Reporting at the meeting, Secretary of Tay Giang District Party Committee - Bhling Mia said that after 20 years of re-establishing the district, the socio-economic situation of Tay Giang district has maintained and grown quite comprehensively, the infrastructure has developed synchronously, and culture and society have changed positively. Policy beneficiaries and people with revolutionary contributions have been cared for, and the rate of poor and near-poor households has decreased significantly each year (average 5%).

Per capita income increased 17.5 times compared to 2003 (from 1.4 million VND to 24.5 million VND). Planning and arranging residents in conjunction with natural disaster prevention have been given special attention and care. Up to now, 123 resettlement sites/63 villages have been arranged and more than 5,000 ethnic minority households have been stably settled, becoming a "bright spot" in resettlement, highly appreciated by the province.

The rate of households using national grid electricity in Tay Giang is currently over 96%. The national target program has achieved some important results, the movement to build new rural areas and model new rural areas has been implemented effectively. The work of forest management, protection and development has received special attention, with regular and drastic leadership and direction. Up to now, the forest coverage rate has reached 73%.

In addition, cultural values ​​continue to be preserved, maintained and developed; political security, border security and social order and safety in the district are maintained. Foreign affairs and development cooperation between neighboring districts, especially Ka Lum district and Dac Chung district (Sekong province, Laos) are strengthened...

In particular, 2023 is the mid-term year of implementing the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels. Despite facing many difficulties and challenges, Tay Giang district has achieved many important results in the fields of socio-economic development, national defense - security, Party building, political system... with 16/16 targets of the resolution all achieved and exceeded the set plan.

Tay Giang proposed that the Provincial Party Committee have specific mechanisms and policies so that the district can take advantage of calling on organizations, individuals, businesses and some projects of legal non-governmental organizations to cooperate and invest in development in some fields, such as eco-tourism, developing medicinal herbs under forest canopy, sustainable forest planting, carbon credit trading policy and programs and projects to create livelihoods for people in border areas to participate and benefit.

At the same time, it is proposed that the Provincial Party Committee has a policy and supports the investment capital for the construction of a new headquarters of the Tay Giang District Party Committee, with a total estimated cost of about 40 billion VND. Supplement the planning of the traffic system between Tay Giang district and Nam Dong district (Thua Thien Hue province) with a length of about 28km to connect the provinces between Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue; continue to recommend that the Central Government soon invest in upgrading and expanding National Highway 14G...

Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized that Tay Giang is a land rich in potential, advantages and also a locality rich in revolutionary tradition. This is a very important locality in terms of national defense - security, foreign affairs, with 8 border communes bordering Laos.

Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet said that in recent times, thanks to the province's support resources, Tay Giang has developed quite outstandingly compared to other mountainous localities. However, due to the complex mountainous conditions, Tay Giang still has many limitations that need to be resolved in the coming time, especially in poverty reduction and improving the lives of people in mountainous areas.

To resolve the difficulties and obstacles in the coming time, comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet requested the provincial departments and branches to pay more attention with spirit and responsibility so that Tay Giang can soon overcome the difficulties. On the basis of promoting tradition and solidarity, Tay Giang needs to continue to maintain its development aspirations, propagate to the people to grasp the policies of the Party and State, and avoid unexpected situations.
