Each person has a choice

The Japanese-style house of the young couple Hoang Van Tin in Phung Chanh village, Vinh Loc commune, is located in the middle of a garden of hundreds of square meters, facing the national highway. In front of the house is his wife's flower shop, on the side is a small printing workshop. Mr. Tin said that after graduating from grade 12, he was consulted and guided through the procedures by the commune government, and registered to work in Japan under a contract. In a foreign country, he met a girl from Thuy Van commune, who was also working abroad. They became husband and wife, both setting the goal of working hard, spending frugally to accumulate capital to return home to start a business.

Five years later, they had saved enough money to buy a garden and build a minimalist Japanese-style house. The couple chose their careers based on their interests and market demand. “In Japan, I not only had a stable income but also learned professionalism, discipline, punctuality and integrity. Those were valuable assets when I returned,” Tin said.

Not everyone chooses to go far. Tran Thi Hong Linh in Thuy Xuan ward chose to study food and beverage to work in Hue. The short-term vocational course of nearly 3 months helped Linh learn how to manage ingredients, food hygiene and safety, basic mixing, operating a counter, and customer care. The class also taught her how to use a POS machine, receive orders on a food delivery app, take photos of dishes, and write short posts for fanpages.

With a career in hand, Linh is not in a hurry to start a business. She chose to work at large coffee shops to gain practical experience. “When I am mature enough, I will take advantage of the premises in my hometown to open my own shop,” Linh shared.

Mr. Vo Phan The Anh, a coffee shop setup and training expert in Hue , said that in recent years, many young people have chosen to study F&B instead of going to university. The employment rate after training is quite high, accounting for over 80%.

Creating momentum for workers

In the first 7 months of 2025, Hue city created jobs for more than 12,350 workers, reaching 70% of the yearly plan. Of these, 1,614 workers were sent to work abroad under contracts, reaching 77% of the plan. The main labor export markets include Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan (China), focusing on engineering, nursing, and manufacturing.

The city has also actively implemented loan support programs to create jobs, improve the quality of vocational training and soft skills for workers, especially young workers and rural workers. The city's Employment Service Center regularly organizes periodic job fairs, creating a bridge between businesses and job seekers. Promoting job creation not only helps improve income and stabilize people's lives, but is also an important solution to achieve the goal of sustainable poverty reduction, contributing to promoting local socio -economic development.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education and Training focuses on a free vocational training support program for local workers. Priority is given to meritorious people, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, poor and near-poor households, households whose land has been recovered, workers in rural and mountainous areas, and women-headed households.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Thong, Director of Hue City Employment Service Center, said that job communication has been strongly innovated, combining the grassroots radio system, social networks (Facebook, Zalo) website and coordinating with press agencies to introduce recruitment and career counseling. Thanks to that, the ability to connect and interact with workers has been significantly improved, with an average of more than 100,000 job information reaching more than 100,000 people per month via digital platforms.

The center also coordinates with local authorities, businesses and vocational training institutions to organize mobile job fairs, job fairs and career orientation consultation sessions. These activities help workers quickly update career trends, understand market requirements and access reputable recruitment addresses through official channels, creating peace of mind when looking for jobs.
