Speaking at the meeting, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Kien Giang province Danh Phuc said that Kien Giang is the province with the third largest Khmer ethnic group in the Mekong Delta region, with 237,157 people, accounting for over 13% of the province's population. The material and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improving. The number of well-off households is increasing, the number of poor ethnic minority households has decreased to 1.86%, the number of near-poor households is 2.73%, of which poor Khmer households are 1.8% compared to the number of ethnic households, near-poor households are 2.7%.
