Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, requested the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital to continue applying science and technology in medical examination and treatment, improve the quality of treatment and develop the hospital-school model.
On February 21, in Ho Chi Minh City, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia visited and congratulated groups and individuals in the health sector on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955 - February 27, 2025).
At the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City, Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Quoc Dat, the school's principal, reported that the school currently trains 15 undergraduate majors with more than 10,000 students, of which 12 majors have been accredited according to AUN-QA standards (Standards of the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance). The medical field alone has completed the transition to an advanced training model according to international standards. At the postgraduate level, the school implements 168 training programs to meet the demand for high-quality medical human resources.

In particular, this is also the first facility in the country to develop the hospital-school model. Currently, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital is one of the leading hospitals in the country, welcoming over 2.5 million patients for examination and treatment each year. The hospital also applies many specialized techniques, applying information technology towards the smart hospital model. More and more foreign doctors come to the hospital to learn strong techniques such as stent placement, endoscopy, etc.; many foreigners choose the hospital as a place for medical examination and treatment. The hospital-school model of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy has become a model for medical universities across the country to boldly establish affiliated hospitals.
Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department Nguyen Trong Nghia assessed that with its long history and achievements in training medical human resources, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy is one of the key training schools in the country. He noted that the school's leaders must constantly improve the quality of training high-quality human resources for the medical sector and keep up with international standards. At the same time, the school's teaching staff needs to continue to inspire students, training many generations of doctors who are not only good at their profession but also brilliant in medical ethics.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital continue to apply science and technology in medical examination and treatment, improve the quality of treatment and develop the hospital-school model. The hospital continues to promote its strengths, improve professional capacity, and at the same time promote scientific research, contributing to bringing Vietnamese medicine to international standards.
