According to local authorities, recently, dozens of sand dredgers have been operating at full capacity day and night, affecting the houses and surrounding walls of 42 households in Phong Van commune.

In addition, Phu Tho province also assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to clearly identify areas where sand mining needs to be temporarily suspended and notify Tien Nga Company Limited (the unit licensed to mine sand).

At the same time, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Phu Tho province was assigned to work with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Hanoi to provide information on mines in the border areas between the two localities and organize coordination to effectively manage mineral exploitation.

As Thanh Nien reported, recently, in the area of Phu Tho province bordering Ba Vi district (in the areas of Thai Hoa and Phong Van communes), sand mining on the Da and Red rivers has been taking place openly and busily. Dozens of sand dredgers operate at full capacity day and night. Boats waiting to get sand are anchored tightly around the area where the dredgers are operating.

According to statistics from the People's Committee of Phong Van commune, 42 households in Bai hamlet (Van Hoi village) were affected by cracks in the surrounding walls, houses, and yards, of which 19 houses had cracks ranging from 2 to 13 meters long. The large cracks in the houses made the households live in fear.

To ensure the safety of the Hong River embankment, the lives and property of people in Van Hoi village, the People's Committee of Ba Vi district has requested competent authorities to temporarily stop sand dredging on the Da River.

Data from experts shows that the Da River bed next to the area where 19 houses are cracked has 2 erosion holes. The riverbed in the erosion hole area has decreased by 3 - 5 m compared to 2023.
