According to the announcement of the Central Office, on June 21, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, the 13th Party Central Committee held a meeting to review and give opinions on personnel work. At the meeting, the Party Central Committee considered allowing Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Politburo member, Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Hanoi City, to resign from his leadership positions and retire from work.

The Party Central Committee assessed that Mr. Dinh Tien Dung is a senior official of the Party and State, trusted by the Party Central Committee and the Politburo to hold a number of important leadership positions at the Central and local levels. During his work, he always upheld his sense of responsibility and made contributions to the common achievements of the agencies, units and localities where he worked.

However, according to the report of the Central Inspection Commission, during his tenure as Secretary of the Party Committee and Minister of Finance for the 2016-2021 term, Mr. Dinh Tien Dung violated the Regulations on what party members are not allowed to do, the Regulations on exemplary responsibility, and the Working Regulations; lacked responsibility in leadership and direction, allowing the Party Committee, the Ministry of Finance, and a number of organizations and individuals to commit many violations and shortcomings, causing serious consequences, bad public opinion, and reducing the prestige of the party organization and state management agencies.

The Party Central Committee also said that, fully aware of his responsibility to the Party and the people, Mr. Dinh Tien Dung submitted a request to resign from his assigned positions and retire from work.

Pursuant to current regulations of the Party and State and considering the wishes of Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, the Party Central Committee agreed to let Mr. Dinh Tien Dung cease to hold the position of Politburo member and member of the 13th Party Central Committee Executive Committee.

Previously, on June 19, the Politburo agreed to let Mr. Dinh Tien Dung stop participating in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, stop holding the position of Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Hanoi City and report to the Party Central Committee for Mr. Dinh Tien Dung to stop holding positions according to Party regulations and State laws.

According to the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Party Committee of the Ministry of Finance for the 2016-2021 term, they violated the principle of democratic centralism, Party regulations, and working regulations; did not fully implement the direction of competent authorities; lacked responsibility, and loosened leadership and direction, allowing the Ministry of Finance and a number of Party organizations and Party members to violate Party regulations and State laws.

The Party Committee of the Ministry of Finance for the 2016-2021 term also did not perform, did not properly perform, and did not fully perform the assigned functions and tasks in advising, promulgating mechanisms and policies, and implementing state management of the issuance and trading of individual corporate bonds of enterprises in general, including enterprises belonging to the "ecosystem" of Van Thinh Phat Group Joint Stock Company, An Dong Group Joint Stock Company; in performing the state management function of the budget related to International Progress Joint Stock Company and enterprises belonging to the "ecosystem" of International Progress Joint Stock Company.

In particular, Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, when holding the position of Minister of Finance for the 2016-2021 term, was politically responsible for the leader when many violations occurred at the Ministry of Finance; lacked responsibility in leadership and direction, allowing the Party Committee of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Finance and a number of organizations and individuals to commit many violations and shortcomings, causing serious consequences, bad public opinion, and reducing the prestige of the Party organization and state management agency.
