Attending the event were Central Party Committee member, Soc Trang Provincial Party Secretary Lam Van Man; provincial leaders, dignitaries of the Patriotic Buddhist Monks Solidarity Association; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, representatives of martyrs' families, families with revolutionary contributions, prestigious people, Khmer cadres and soldiers.

Delegates listened to the Chol Chnam Thmay 2024 New Year greetings from the Prime Minister and leaders of Soc Trang province.

Last year, with the efforts of the entire Party, people and army in the province, the socio-economic situation of Soc Trang had many positive changes, achieving and exceeding 14/20 planned targets.

The Party and State's policies and guidelines for the Khmer ethnic group have been effectively implemented to develop the socio-economy of the Khmer ethnic group, especially in remote, isolated and particularly disadvantaged areas.

The material and spiritual life of the people has gradually improved, the poverty rate among the Khmer ethnic group has decreased to 3,937 households, or 3.86%. Infrastructure in ethnic minority areas has been gradually invested and improved.

The whole province has 100% of communes with car roads to the commune center; 100% of communes, wards, towns and 100% of hamlets and quarters have national grid electricity; 99.65% of ethnic minority households use clean water; 100% of communes in the province have schools and classrooms and maintain the standards of universal secondary education; 100% of communes have medical stations meeting the national criteria; 100% of communes have offices; 100% of communes and wards have cultural houses and 93.42% of quarters and quarters have community houses.

The medical network is increasingly developed, the quality of medical examination and treatment is increasingly improved. The cultural identity and fine traditions of ethnic minorities are preserved and promoted. The traditional cultural festivals of ethnic minorities, the Ooc Om Boc festival - Ngo boat racing are always organized with increasing attention, solemnity and more impressive than before.

Political security and social order and safety are maintained. The work of building the Party, government, Fatherland Front and ethnic minority organizations has achieved many positive results. The great solidarity bloc among ethnic groups is constantly consolidated and strengthened.

At the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Soc Trang province Ho Thi Cam Dao called on all Khmer people, cadres, soldiers and monks to continue promoting the tradition of great national unity and implementing well the policies of the Party and State.

He requested all levels and sectors in the province to continue promoting the achieved results, proactively and actively implementing the Party and State's policies and guidelines on ethnic and religious issues, meeting the requirements and aspirations of the people.

Continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the resolutions, directives and conclusions of the Party and State on ethnic work, especially Directive No. 19-CT/TW of the Central Party Secretariat on strengthening work in the Khmer ethnic minority area in the new situation and the resolution of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee on leading the implementation of the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas for the 2021-2025 period and orientation to 2030.

Effectively implement the ethnic policies of the Party and State, especially speed up the progress of projects and works under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority Areas in conjunction with the New Rural Development Program, Sustainable Poverty Reduction and programs and projects being implemented in the area so that people can fully and promptly enjoy the prescribed regimes and policies.

Along with that, well implement the State management of ethnic groups and continue to effectively implement ethnic policies and social security policies, preserve and promote national cultural identity.
