On March 19, some parents said that rumors and worries arose when the document on the plan to mobilize children to attend classes and enroll students at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee did not mention the enrollment of 6th grade students at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted.

"Is it right for Ho Chi Minh City to stop enrolling students in Tran Dai Nghia 6th grade?", a parent asked worriedly.

However, speaking to Tuoi Tre , an official from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that the enrollment of 6th graders at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted is still being carried out according to a new project that is being developed and submitted to competent authorities.

According to the new project, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Education and Training to build and develop Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted as a modern, advanced secondary school, approaching international education, continuing to maintain and promote the achievements that Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted has achieved.

Previously, on March 12, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee signed Document No. 1208/UBND-VX to the Ministry of Education and Training proposing to conduct 6th grade enrollment in the 2024-2025 school year at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted in the form of a survey.

At the same time, the Department of Education and Training was assigned to develop a project to change the model of Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School in accordance with the Law on Education and regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

On March 15, the Department of Education and Training submitted a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requesting permission to reorganize the Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted in accordance with the Law on Education.

Specifically, in this submission, the Department of Education and Training proposed to separate the junior high school block of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted and enroll non-specialized high school classes to form Tran Dai Nghia Junior High School - High School. The senior high school block of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted will remain the same and become Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted.

Thus, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted will be divided into two schools: Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted with two different types of public schools.

Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted is a public school in the specialized school system. Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School is a public school in the general school system with many levels.

Regarding the enrollment and training roadmap of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, from the time of establishment (school year 2024 - 2025) onwards, the school will continue to train secondary school students of Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School; enroll and train secondary and high school students.

Regarding human resources, both schools will continue to use the existing teaching staff of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted (inter-school teaching staff) to maintain the training quality of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School.

If approved, in the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City will still enroll in grade 6 Tran Dai Nghia.

"With the plans that have been developed and are in the process of soliciting opinions, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, when established, will be a school following an advanced international integration model and if approved for the 2024-2025 school year, it will continue to enroll 6th graders and implement this new model," said an official from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.
