Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the structure of the 10th grade exam for public high schools in 2025

Accordingly, 7 subjects for students to review before the first exam under the new program include: Literature, Math, English, Natural Sciences, History and Geography, Civic Education , and Information Technology.

In which, Literature and Math are still tested in essay format with 120 minutes to complete. The remaining subjects are tested in objective multiple choice format with 60 minutes to complete.

Specifically, the Literature exam still has two parts: reading comprehension and writing, with scores of 4 and 6 points, respectively. The Math illustration exam has 5 parts, including thinking and reasoning (three points), problem solving (4.5) and modeling (2.5).

A representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that the exam format structure is an important basis for building a question bank and creating exam questions for the 10th grade entrance exam for high schools in Hanoi according to the 2018 General Education Program.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training also requested that the Departments of Education and Training, based on the structure and format of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year, strengthen the construction of question banks and test matrices according to the requirements of the subject; encourage schools to build digital libraries of test questions.

The 2025-2026 school year is the first year that the entrance exam for grade 10 high school is conducted according to the 2018 General Education Program. The announcement of the exam format structure and sample questions aims to help grade 9 students in the 2024-2025 school year as well as staff and teachers of schools in the city have specific directions to organize effective teaching, learning, and review, and prepare well for the exam.
