According to Mr. Doan Luong Anh, Director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Tuyen Quang province, this January, Tuyen Quang received more than 6,300 doses of 5-in-1 vaccine allocated by the National Immunization Program, ensuring 80% of the local demand for 5-in-1 vaccine. The CDC coordinated with schools to review the vaccination history of children entering preschool and primary school to carry out catch-up vaccinations for children who have not been fully vaccinated.
National expanded immunization program provides enough vaccines to prevent 12 infectious diseases, free vaccination for children
Through actual monitoring, Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Thi Hong, Deputy Director of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Head of the working group, assessed that Tuyen Quang's health sector has fully prepared conditions for safe vaccination. Along with the mountainous provinces, Tuyen Quang is one of the provinces prioritized for TCMR vaccination, for catch-up vaccination, ensuring vaccine coverage, protecting children from dangerous infectious diseases, especially from the risk of winter-spring epidemics.
From January 2, children in Ho Chi Minh City will be vaccinated with 5-in-1 vaccine for free.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Thi Hong, to stabilize the supply of 5-in-1 TCMR vaccines nationwide, the National TCMR is purchasing 2.8 million doses of 5-in-1 vaccines, expected to be received in March - April, this amount of vaccines meets 100% of the demand, at least for 6 months of 2024; and will continue to purchase widely, meeting the demand for TCMR vaccines in provinces and cities. The Government has allocated a budget to purchase TCMR vaccines.
In addition to the 5-in-1 vaccine, other TCMR vaccines such as Japanese encephalitis B, measles, tuberculosis, diphtheria - whooping cough - tetanus, polio, etc. have been supplied by the National TCMR since the beginning of January, and within 1 week will cover 63 provinces and cities. The quantity of this vaccine is enough to vaccinate children who have not been vaccinated in 2023 and children who are scheduled for vaccination in the first 6 months of 2024. Last year, the 5-in-1 TCMR vaccine was in short supply since March. The National TCMR has supplemented 2 batches in August and December for some provinces and cities from aid sources. As for the hepatitis B vaccine for newborns, due to supply interruptions, some children were vaccinated when they were 1 - 1.5 months old, instead of within the first 24 hours after birth.
