On the occasion of the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam National United Front - Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2023), and at the same time contributing to thoroughly grasping and implementing the Resolution of the 8th Central Conference, term XIII, on November 18, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front chaired and coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department and the National Political Publishing House Truth to organize the launching ceremony of the book "Promoting the tradition of great national unity, building our country increasingly rich, civilized and happy" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Historical handbook on promoting the strength of national unity

The book “Promoting the tradition of great national unity, building our country to be increasingly rich, civilized and happy” by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong includes an overview and 75 typical speeches, articles, speeches, interviews, letters, appeals along with 142 photos vividly reflecting the visits and work in localities and bases of 63 provinces and cities by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. The book demonstrates the consistent thinking of the head of our Party on building and promoting the great national unity bloc, demonstrated through the rich implementation, with very close and specific guidance of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for each class, stratum, with organizations, with the Vietnamese people at home and overseas Vietnamese.

The book consists of three parts, of which Part 1 "Great National Unity - Endogenous Strength, the Decisive Factor for the Victory of the Cause of Building and Protecting the Fatherland", includes an overview article and 4 speeches by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the 8th Central Conference of the 13th tenure, the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam Fatherland Front - Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the National Conference to deploy the Action Program of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. The articles and speeches demonstrate the General Secretary's strategic, consistent and thorough thinking on the task of promoting the tradition of great national unity, in which the Vietnam Fatherland Front plays the role of the political core, the nucleus of unity, together with socio-political organizations to mobilize, gather and rally the masses of people, striving to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, firmly building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

Part two "Promoting the core political role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's socio-economic development goals", selected 36 speeches, articles, speeches, letters, and interviews of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong towards the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, social strata, people of all walks of life in the country and overseas Vietnamese. Throughout the speeches, articles, speeches... shows the special attention, leadership, and close direction of the General Secretary towards the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations: Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vietnam Farmers' Union, Vietnam Women's Union, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Veterans' Association, etc.

Part three "Promoting the role of all classes of people and localities, contributing more to the cause of national renewal", includes 34 speeches, articles, addresses, interviews, letters, and appeals by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to all classes of people, during his visits and work at the grassroots level.

During his visits and work in localities and bases, the General Secretary always paid affectionate visits to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, people with revolutionary contributions, met and listened to the people, visited compatriots; encouraged those in difficult circumstances, met and talked with teenagers and children,... with precious feelings; at the same time, called on all social classes to always uphold the spirit of patriotism, the tradition of "children of Lac, grandchildren of Hong", national pride and self-respect to contribute to building a rich and prosperous country, where people can have a prosperous and happy life.

Speaking at the book launch ceremony, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien emphasized that this is a very valuable book, summarizing practices, supplementing and elevating theories on the cause of great national unity, which has been deeply researched and analyzed, gathering documents, images, articles, and typical speeches of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong towards the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, mass organizations, and all classes in society. These are outstanding ideas, profound visions, dialectics, and practices on great national unity, following Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought, in line with the reality of the Vietnamese revolution; the writing style is simple, easy to understand, easy to remember, profound, and goes straight to the heart.

The content of the book reflects the great thoughts and sincere feelings of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on building and promoting the tradition of great national unity in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. As General Secretary, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong visited and worked with localities, agencies and units in many different areas, from mountainous, border to coastal areas; from factories to fields. Wherever he went, the General Secretary took time to visit and encourage Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, families with revolutionary contributions, wounded and sick soldiers, the elderly, teenagers, children, ethnic minorities, religious people... Those visits and encouragements had a strong influence, demonstrating the concern, love and sympathy of the highest leader of our Party and State for all classes of people, leaving a deep impression and touching people's hearts.

Speaking at the book launch ceremony, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Vu Thanh Mai said that the book emphasized the role and importance of national solidarity, once again affirming that national solidarity is a precious tradition of our nation, a decisive factor in the victory of the revolutionary cause, the most important factor, the main driving force for the country to develop rapidly and sustainably. National solidarity is the endogenous strength, the decisive factor in the victory of the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

In addition, in the book, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong analyzed the basic contents of national solidarity. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that national solidarity is the sum of solidarity relationships between classes, strata, ethnicities, religions, genders, economic sectors, regions and between the people and the Party and the State. National solidarity is demonstrated in the fields of politics, economics, culture, society, national defense and security. Promoting the core political role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations is to contribute to the successful implementation of the country's socio-economic development goals.

At the same time, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong proposed solutions to promote the strength of great national unity in the new period; affirmed the need to promote the role of all classes of people and localities, contributing more to the country's innovation; strengthen education and propaganda to raise awareness of cadres, party members and people about the tradition of great national unity; continue to innovate the content and methods of operation of the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, promote the role of a bridge between the Party, the State and the people; create a favorable environment for the people to promote their right to mastery, participate in building and defending the Fatherland; resolutely fight and prevent all plots and actions to divide and sabotage the great national unity bloc.

According to Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Vu Thanh Mai, the book is an important theoretical work, of great value in theory and practice; affirming the role and importance of national solidarity in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; contributing to deepening the Party's leadership. This is considered a "handbook" on building national solidarity, a sharp weapon to protect the Party's ideological foundation, to fight against false and hostile arguments about ethnicity and religion, and to exploit ethnic and religious issues to cause division and sabotage the great solidarity of the Vietnamese people.

To spread the great and profound meaning and value of the book, especially during the days of the National Great Unity Day in all residential areas, neighborhoods, and localities across the country, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Vu Thanh Mai suggested that press agencies proactively coordinate with relevant agencies to develop plans and programs to promote the book's content in both the electronic version and the traditional paper version; open special pages, columns, editorials, monographs, research, and spread the value of the book's content to a large number of cadres, party members, and people of all walks of life; emphasize the promotion of the strength of national great unity to develop the economy, culture, society, security, and national defense.

Member organizations of the Front, the core of which is the propaganda agency, need to organize for cadres and party members to read, study, and thoroughly grasp the content of the book; include it in the content of Party cell activities, in which the role, position, and importance of great national unity are clarified, solutions to promote the tradition of patriotism, the strength of great national unity, contributing to building an increasingly prosperous country and a more civilized and happy people.

Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Vu Thanh Mai suggested that relevant units compile documents to disseminate and study the book's content in the training programs of political schools from the central to local levels; organize scientific seminars on the book's topics and content in creative and effective forms, suitable to the actual situation of localities and bases.
