The People's Committee of Quang Ngai province has just issued a decision to administratively sanction Ms. Le Thi Tuyet Mai (52 years old, residing in Di Lang town, Son Ha district, Quang Ngai).

Ms. Mai is the owner of Tu Hai baguette shop, where a food poisoning incident occurred, sending 23 people to the hospital.

According to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, Ms. Mai committed an administrative violation: Importing, producing, processing, supplying, and selling food that affects the health of 5 or more people but does not reach the level of criminal prosecution.

Earlier, on the morning of March 12, Son Ha District Medical Center reported that 23 patients suspected of food poisoning were hospitalized for treatment. All patients used Tu Hai baguette products (Hang Gon residential group, Di Lang town) owned by Ms. Mai.

The Quang Ngai Center for Disease Control took 3 samples at this facility. Later, the Department of Health concluded that the poisoning case after eating bread from Mrs. Mai's shop was caused by microbial contamination (Salmonella).

On April 5, 37 students from Vinh Truong Primary School and Tran Hung Dao Secondary School (Vinh Truong Ward, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa) were poisoned and hospitalized. Many students from the two schools had breakfast at different restaurants outside.

Most students said they ate shredded chicken rice. Some others said they ate baguettes, hot dogs, and chicken hamburgers near the two schools.

On March 13, the Khanh Hoa Health Department also recorded 369 people being poisoned after eating at Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant, due to chicken dishes, egg sauce, pickles... The cause of the poisoning is believed to be cross-contamination of Salmonella, Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus bacteria from chicken dishes, egg sauce, pickles...
