The meeting aimed to discuss the progress of implementing cooperation projects and orientations for sustainable urban development in the province in the coming time, especially the period 2022 - 2025.

At the meeting, the two sides focused on evaluating the main project being implemented in Quang Nam: Project "Institutional strengthening and capacity building for sustainable urban development projects in Vietnam" (ISCB)

The ISCB project, funded by the Swiss Government through the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and managed by UN-Habitat, is being implemented in Tam Ky City and piloted in Tam Thanh Commune. The project aims to develop a socio-economic development strategy for the Tam Thanh community art village, applying integrated urban planning methods and creating public spaces with the participation of the people.

According to the report of the UN-Habitat representative, from 2022 to present, the project has completed many important activities such as community surveys, building city profiles, consulting with people and local authorities.

In particular, in 2025, the project will focus on completing the Socio-Economic Development Strategy of Tam Thanh Community Art Village and implementing a demonstration project on space creation, expected to be completed before June 2025. These activities will not only promote local economic development but also enhance community participation in tourism services and preserve the traditional Tam Thanh mural art.

In addition to the ISCB project, UN-Habitat is also implementing the Botnar project, which focuses on promoting innovation among young people and communities in Hoi An City and Tam Ky City. This project is expected to create innovative solutions, improve the quality of life and promote sustainable urban development in the two cities.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan acknowledged the active support of UN-Habitat and pledged to continue to closely coordinate to ensure the effective implementation of the project's activities. The province also expressed its hope that the project will contribute to further highlighting the Tam Thanh community art village, while supporting the organization of Tam Thanh Sea Week in June 2025, creating a cultural and tourism highlight for the area.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan emphasized the importance of cooperation with UN-Habitat in implementing sustainable urban development goals, adapting to climate change and improving urban management capacity. The province committed to continue supporting and coordinating community consultation activities to ensure the success of projects in 2025 and beyond.
