A lecturer was terminated for criticizing students improperly.

Speaking to reporters on the afternoon of August 31, Mr. Bui Quang Hung, Director ofFPT Polytechnic College, said that the school had terminated the contract with a lecturer because he had criticized a student inappropriately, causing the student to feel ashamed in front of his friends.

Specifically, on August 10, after submitting the exam for the subject of color, graphic design, FPT Polytechnic College, student NKL received a score of 0 from lecturer MD for the reason that using artificial intelligence (AI), he was unable to edit the test according to the lecturer's instructions.

Notably, after a student questioned his score in the class chat group on Messenger, the MD lecturer exchanged messages criticizing the student’s way of doing the test. According to the student’s parents, this made the student feel embarrassed in front of his friends and sad and cried.

After receiving information about the incident, the lecturer contacted the parents and shared details about the student’s learning situation. On August 13, the parents went to the school, met with school representatives and requested an assessment of the lecturer’s quality.

On August 15, the school established a review board to review the students' exams and concluded that the exam scores were 5 points. At the review session, students shared their satisfaction with the new results.

According to Mr. Hung, the lecturer met and apologized to the student for the inappropriate messages. However, the parents did not agree to meet the student privately to resolve the issue, and asked the lecturer to apologize in the class chat group.

The school confirmed that the lecturer later sent a message to the class chat group with a specific apology: "I congratulate KL on successfully defending the subject. During the teaching process, sometimes I have behaviors that cause misunderstandings and make KL sad. I apologize to you and hope you regain your motivation, learning spirit and continue studying. I wish you all to always have motivation and a spirit of cooperation in studying, achieving many successes in studying and life."

The school worked privately with the lecturer to review, learn from experience and agreed to terminate the lecturer's labor contract from August 28.

"During its operation, FPT College did not "cover up" for cases of lecturers and staff with inappropriate or substandard behavior," Mr. Hung affirmed.
