The conference was chaired by Mr. Le Minh Hung, Politburo member, Head of the Central Organization Commission and Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

The conference announced the Politburo's decision on the transfer, assignment and appointment of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Construction, to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, holding the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2020-2025.

Previously, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi held many positions in the Government and localities and participated in the Party Central Committee of the 11th, 12th and 13th terms. In 2011, at the 11th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi became one of the youngest alternate members of the Party Central Committee of the 11th term, at the age of 35. Also during this term, in October 2015, he was elected Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee.

In 2016, at the 12th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Nghi was a member of the 12th Party Central Committee. In 2021, Mr. Nghi was re-elected to the 13th Party Central Committee. In the same year, Mr. Nghi was approved by the National Assembly as Minister of Construction and has worked at the Ministry of Construction until now.
