On October 8, the State Council of Professors announced the list of candidates proposed by the Council of Professors of all disciplines and interdisciplinary disciplines to be considered for recognition as meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2024.

The latest list of 598 remaining candidates (public list) has been proposed by the Council of Professors of the industry and interdisciplinary sectors to be considered for recognition of meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2024.

Previously, the list had 673 candidates. The interdisciplinary professorship council of History - Archaeology - Ethnology/Anthropology had 1 Professor candidate and 4 Associate Professor candidates.

The only candidate for Professor of History-Archaeology-Ethnology is Associate Professor Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan - Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM City; the four candidates for Associate Professor of this major are Nguyen Van Sang - University of Education, Danang University; Hoang Thi Tham - University of Commerce; Pham Duc Thuan - Can Tho University; Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy - Hanoi University of Education.

According to the signed certificate of recognition of meeting the standards for the title of Professor in 2024, Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan was born in 1974, hometown Tan An commune, Can Duoc district, Long An province.

Ms. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan graduated in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in Oriental Studies, majoring in Southeast Asian Studies from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM.

In 2002, she received a Master's degree in Anthropology, specializing in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Toronto, Canada.

In 2012, she was awarded a PhD in History, majoring in Ethnology at VNU-HCM. She was appointed/recognized as Associate Professor in 2018, majoring in Ethnology.

The work history of the only female 7X Professor candidate in 2024, who is the principal of a prestigious university, is as follows:

From September 1998 to May 2000, she was a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

From June 2002 to September 2008, she was a lecturer at the Department of Anthropology.

From September 2008 to February 2013, she was Deputy Head of Department, Faculty of Anthropology.

From February 2012 to April 2018, Ms. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan was Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM.

From June 2016 to present, Associate Professor Ngo Thi Phuong Lan is the Director of the Center for Rural Development - Seamaul Undong, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM.

From April 2018 to present, Associate Professor Ngo Thi Phuong Lan is the Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM.

In 2023, Associate Professor Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan was reappointed by Ho Chi Minh City National University as the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMC National University) for the 2023-2028 term. She is the first female rector of this university and this is her second term.

Regarding awards, Ms. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan has received many certificates of merit and noble titles such as the Certificate of Merit for the cause of Agricultural and Rural Development of Vietnam based on the spirit of Saemaul, Korea awarded by the Governor of Gyeongsangbuk Province, Korea in 2024; Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for achievements in work, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland in 2019; many certificates of merit from the Ministry of Education and Training for excellent completion of tasks from the school years from 2015-2016 to 2021-2022; Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Certificate of Merit from Ho Chi Minh City National University; Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and many certificates of merit from organizations such as the Vietnam Farmers' Association, the Vietnam Women's Intellectuals Association, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, etc.
