* Quynh Luu, more than 600 hectares of corn and various vegetables were flooded due to heavy rain : From the morning of September 25 to 27, heavy rain occurred in Quynh Luu district, with a measured rainfall of 209.7 mm. According to statistics from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue, the entire district had 605 hectares of corn and various vegetables flooded, causing damage to people in the communes of Quynh Bang, Quynh Luong, Quynh Minh, Quynh Van, Quynh Yen, Quynh Hau, Quynh Thanh, Quynh Dien, Quynh Tam...; in addition, 50 hectares of first-season sugarcane in Tan Thang commune were broken.

Due to the impact of key projects under construction and the drainage system that has not been restored in time, some production areas in the communes of Quynh My, Quynh Lam, Quynh Giang, Quynh Hoa and Quynh Bang are partially flooded.

Vice Chairman of Quynh Luu District People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Dinh and the working delegation inspected the vegetable fields in the coastal area; drainage systems in some communes; breakwaters and work to ensure safety of fishing boats at Lach Quen fishing port in Tien Thuy commune.

With the forecast of continued heavy rain, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dinh directed localities to strengthen the flow of water, remove barriers on the main drainage canal, ensure effective drainage; deploy disaster prevention and control plans in accordance with the "4 on-site" motto, especially preparing materials, means, and human resources on-site to promptly handle incidents that may occur due to heavy rain; step up propaganda to raise people's awareness of disaster prevention and control.

For vegetable areas flooded due to the impact of the Coastal Road Project under construction, localities in the coastal areas continue to request the company to mobilize machinery and human resources to dredge and clear drainage ditches, limiting crop damage to the people. Regarding ships and boats, people are advised to anchor at a safe distance and equip themselves with anti-collision tools when there are big waves...

* Dien Chau: As of the afternoon of September 27, in Dien Chau district, more than 700 hectares of corn, nearly 100 hectares of peanuts, and 134 hectares of various vegetables were flooded and damaged; in addition, 42 hectares of brackish water fish and semi-intensive shrimp farming in Dien Van commune were also affected, with water overflowing the banks and some banks collapsing.

Mr. Tran Van Quy - Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dien Chau district said: The communes have mobilized people to focus on pushing water hyacinth and garbage flowing from above down, clearing canals to drain water faster. In the affected aquaculture areas, people have used nets to cover the overflow, and rebuilt the eroded banks to prevent fish and shrimp from escaping.

* Hoang Mai Town: Due to heavy rain, some fish ponds of people in Quynh Di ward are at risk of overflowing, causing damage to farming. People have used nets to prevent fish from escaping. In Quynh Lien commune, Mr. Ho Ngoc Tang - Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune said: This winter crop, the commune planted 351 hectares of various vegetables; due to heavy rain, many areas of crops that were ready for harvest such as onions, squash, various vegetables, and radishes were flooded, causing damage; heavy rain also damaged some areas of newly planted carrots, onions, and chayote.

Currently, local authorities are coordinating with farmers to clear the flow, pump water out of the fields, and harvest crops that can be harvested, in order to salvage and reduce damage caused by floods.

Due to the influence of the tropical convergence zone connecting to the center of the low pressure area, then the tropical depression operating at sea, it caused heavy rain, especially heavy rain in some places on the night of September 26 and the morning of September 27. The rainfall from 7:00 a.m. on September 25-27 was measured at 100 - 320mm, in some places it was over 350mm such as Quy Chau 384mm, Do Luong 352mm, ...

According to a quick report from the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities, by the afternoon of September 27, heavy rain had flooded and knocked down over 6,777 hectares of crops. Of which: 1,745 hectares of rice (mainly in the districts: Que Phong 728 hectares, Quy Chau 427 hectares, Nghia Dan 374 hectares...); more than 3,127 hectares of corn, peanuts, and various vegetables (Dien Chau 978 hectares, Anh Son 316 hectares, Yen Thanh 170 hectares...); in addition, more than 1,900 hectares of fruit trees and industrial trees, mainly in the districts of Nghia Dan, Anh Son, and Quy Chau were also affected.

Currently, localities are focusing on solutions to clear and drain water; harvest some areas of crops that can be harvested; build embankments, protect aquaculture; in some localities such as Nghi Loc district, people have gone to the fields to harvest rice to reduce damage caused by floods.
