The Vinh Thanh neighborhood media team, Ngai Giao town, Chau Duc district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, came into operation when implementing Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" among ethnic minorities in the area and had many positive activities in the lives of the Cho Ro ethnic people here.
Practical activities
"Our Community Communications Team has always tried to diversify the forms of propaganda, choosing the appropriate form for each content and target audience, and initially achieved positive results," said Mr. Dao Van Gia, Cho Ro ethnic group, head of the Community Communications Team of Vinh Thanh neighborhood, beginning the story.
As the Party cell secretary of the neighborhood, Mr. Dao Van Gia is also a prestigious and influential figure in the Cho Ro ethnic community in this locality.
In 2024, the Women's Union of Ngai Giao town developed Plan No. 130/KH-BTV, dated April 26, 2024 of the Women's Union of the town on implementing Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" among ethnic minorities in the area to cadres, women's union members and people.
The Town Women's Union consulted and developed plan No. 107-KH/BCH dated March 18, 2024. Launching the Hoang Giao neighborhood community communication team with 9 members; launching the rice growing cooperative team in Vinh Thanh neighborhood with 10 members; maintaining the Vinh Thanh neighborhood community communication team with 10 members.

Mr. Dao Van Gia said: "The activities of the Community Communications Team in our neighborhood are quite diverse. We have a club for parents with children from 0 to 16 years old , sharing experiences in growing rice for high productivity, and also organizing a Green House model to raise awareness about green living and environmental protection. In addition, the Communications Team also gives scholarships to excellent children and insurance to women in difficult circumstances."
According to Mr. Dao Van Gia, the Rice Growing Cooperative Group in Vinh Thanh Quarter is one of the special activities that the Community Communications Group pays close attention to and organizes regular activities. Women are invited to listen to experts talk and instruct on rice growing techniques according to modern science and technology, suitable for the soil and local ecosystem.
From the gathering of the Community Communication Team, the Vinh Thanh Ward Rice Growing Cooperative was born. Ten Cho Ro ethnic women actively participated. Some women took on 2 hectares, some took on 1 hectare. The most interesting thing for the women was to have their first access to advanced scientific methods in rice growing. The old and ineffective methods were gradually changed, to grow rice in the best and most productive way.

Ms. Duong Thi Sang, born in 1980, Cho Ro ethnic group, one of 10 members of the Rice Growing Cooperative Group, said: "The Rice Growing Cooperative Group of Vinh Thanh ward was gathered by the Community Communication Group of ethnic women to support each other in developing and perfecting rice growing techniques. We started operating in August 2024 and have had many activities to meet, exchange, cultivate and exchange experiences in farming techniques. Everyone is very enthusiastic and happy because they are supported with capital and have their output products consumed."
The Rice Growing Cooperative Group of the Vinh Thanh Quarter Community Communications Group is considered a bright spot, a unique feature of the Cho Ro people in this area. The Cho Ro ethnic group is inherently hard-working farmers, so the practical activities of the Rice Growing Cooperative Group attract women to participate and exchange regularly. They feel that theory goes hand in hand with practice, reality, rather than distant, vague or difficult-to-understand instructions.
Care for ethnic minority women and children
In addition to actively maintaining the Rice Growing Cooperative Group, the Vinh Thanh Neighborhood Community Communications Group also closely monitors the organization of activities for the Parents' Group with children from 0 to 16 years old. Through activities coordinated with the health station, propaganda with contents such as disease prevention, maternal and child health care, and how to raise children to be healthy and obedient has been conveyed to the Cho Ro ethnic women.
Mr. Dao Van Gia said: "We opened a Parents' Club with children from 0 to 16 years old so that ethnic women can gain more awareness and skills for themselves and to educate their children. They can understand more about women's rights, how to educate their children properly, in accordance with ethnic customs but also have to obey the law."
Thanks to the activities of the Parents Group with children from 0 to 16 years old , the sisters have learned more about the fact that domestic violence is a violation of the law. In the past, parents could discipline their children with whips and scolding, of course, just hoping that their children would grow up to be more mature. But in reality, that is not advisable and not allowed. If domestic violence is not prevented, the children will grow up to be greatly affected in their awareness, and will also use violence against their family members and others. In addition, taking care of children under 16 years old also requires attention to nutrition and spirit. Children's nutrition needs to be adequate, so that they have enough physical strength. Limit scolding as much as possible, so that children are not hurt and do negative and foolish actions, affecting their comprehensive development.
Launching the model "Parents with children from 0 to 16 years old" in Vinh Thanh neighborhood
"Women get to listen to advice from experts, and we ourselves participate in activities and learn more good things and principles from this Club," said Mr. Dao Van Gia.
Every day, Mr. Dao Van Gia goes to work on his family's farm, but at any time, he can spend time helping people in Vinh Thanh neighborhood. He also sets an example in collecting used plastic bottles, collecting them to put in the Green House, supporting the green living movement of the Women's Union at all levels. Used plastic bottles will be neatly placed at the Green House location, greatly reducing the amount of garbage, making the neighborhood more spacious and beautiful.
In Vinh Thanh neighborhood, Cho Ro ethnic children study hard. Dao Duong Xo Ra has just received a certificate of merit for Excellent Students from the province, and another has received a scholarship to study abroad in Japan.
Each person contributes a little, thanks to which the Vinh Thanh neighborhood Community Communications Team operates actively, enthusiastically and has practical meaning for the Cho Ro ethnic people living in the area.
