Nhu Thanh protects and prevents forest fires during dry season and festivals The Forest Protection Department of Nhu Thanh district coordinated with the Management Board of Nhu Thanh protective forests and Xuan Du commune to inspect forest fire prevention and control work in the area.

Comrade Le Kim Du, Head of the Forest Protection Department of Nhu Thanh district, said: To protect the safety of the forest area in the area, the District Forest Protection Department has advised the District Party Committee to issue directive documents to continue to effectively implement Directive No. 13-CT/TW, dated January 12, 2017 of the Secretariat on strengthening the leadership of the Party in forest management, protection and development; advising local authorities at all levels to strengthen the Steering Committee for the sustainable forestry development program; advising on reviewing, supplementing, developing and implementing forest management and protection plans (BVR), PCCCR plans... Especially in temples, pagodas, cultural and spiritual relics, the department has strengthened the direction of local forest rangers to coordinate with functional units to regularly patrol and inspect forests, organize propaganda and monitor fire use activities of local people and visitors. Advise local authorities to direct functional units in the area to coordinate with forest owners and managers at temples and shrines to effectively implement forest fire prevention and control work.

The Như Thanh Forest Protection Department has advised Như Thanh district to deploy specific solutions, suitable for each locality, to proactively prevent and control forest fires, such as purchasing equipment for forest fire prevention and control; building more than 4km of new forest fire prevention and control roads in the areas of Xuan Du, Mau Lam, and Phuong Nghi communes; instructing people to clear and handle combustible materials under the pine forest canopy by pre-controlled burning of nearly 16 hectares; determining the cause of the fire, developing specific forest fire prevention and control plans, suitable for reality...

Typically, at the Phu Na Historical - Cultural and Scenic Area (Xuan Du), the number of tourists coming to the Phu Na festival is very large. This area has pine forests, high mountainous terrain, flammable materials under the forest canopy are thick layers of ground cover, the ability to catch fire quickly and the speed of spreading large fires will be very difficult for fire fighting if a forest fire occurs, so the Forest Protection Department of Nhu Thanh district has developed a proactive plan for forest fire prevention and fighting. Focus on propagating to people to comply with regulations on not using fire indiscriminately inside and outside the relic area. Functional units have arranged forces to regularly patrol and guard forest fires, taking shifts to fight forest fire prevention and fighting.

Joining us to survey the fire prevention and control work in Xuan Du commune, Director of the Nhu Thanh Protective Forest Management Board Nguyen Van Dung said: The Nhu Thanh Protective Forest Management Board was assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to manage and use more than 15,250.4 hectares of forest and forestry land, including 9,452.64 hectares of protective forest in 12 communes of Nhu Thanh, Nong Cong and Nhu Xuan districts. During the dry season, festivals, especially before, during and after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, pose a very high risk of forest fires. The Nhu Thanh Protective Forest Management Board has developed a fire prevention and control plan; coordinated with local Party committees and authorities with forests and forest rangers to proactively carry out fire prevention and control work. Especially in localities with high risk of forest fires, localities with forests in relic sites.

At the Phu Na historical and cultural relic and scenic area, the Nhu Thanh Forest Protection Management Board has assigned a leader to be present regularly to grasp the situation, together with the Xuan Du Forest Protection Station to coordinate with the relic management board to proactively propagate and remind people to comply with the regulations on participating in the festival, especially burning votive papers and burning votive papers according to regulations, strictly prohibiting fire ashes from flying into the forest. Organize propaganda for people living in and near the forest, and tourists to comply with and strictly implement forest protection and forest fire prevention and control work.
