The name Tan An has been closely associated with the people of Ninh Giang for thousands of years, is the pride of Ninh Giang people about an ancient land, a cultured countryside, deeply ingrained in the subconscious and soul of Ninh Giang people.

The name of Hong Chau commune is taken from the historical place name - Hong Chau land, associated with the names, life and career of the three lords of the Khuc family, who built the foundation of national independence from the 10th century. The name Hong Chau was born in the 9th century and existed through the Dinh, Tien Le, Ly, and Tran dynasties (about 500 years, from the 9th to the 14th century), associated with a defining event in the history of the nation, which was the event of the Khuc family gaining autonomy in the 10th century, opening the era of independence for the country.
