According to the Management Board of Quang Tri Economic Zone, recently, enterprises in economic zones and industrial parks of Quang Tri province have encountered many difficulties in production. Many enterprises have had to stop operations and have no more orders, leading to inflation of some essential goods related to people's consumption and business production.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Minh - Head of the Quang Tri Economic Zone Management Board - said that there are many reasons leading to the difficulties of enterprises. For example, the cost of input materials such as gasoline, steel, and production materials have all increased. After the impact of COVID-19 and the impact of trade wars and wars between countries, many workers have also quit their jobs.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Minh cited that in 2023, in economic zones and industrial parks in Quang Tri province, there were 6,700 workers, but in the first 6 months of 2024, the number decreased to 5,300 workers. The reason for the decrease of more than 1,000 workers is mainly because businesses have no orders, so they are losing money and cannot pay salaries. In addition, due to low income, workers are unstable and have to find new jobs.

If in 2022, the revenue of enterprises in economic zones and industrial parks of Quang Tri province was 13,535 billion VND, contributing 657 billion VND to the budget, then in 2023 the revenue decreased to 10,832 billion VND, contributing 420 billion VND to the budget. Similarly, in the first 6 months of 2024, the revenue was about 5,000 billion VND, contributing 216 billion VND to the budget. This shows that the production activities of enterprises have been affected by many impacts.

However, the Quang Tri Economic Zone Management Board has just held a dialogue with about 150 enterprises and found new signs. Accordingly, enterprises have recovered in economic development, some are looking for new markets, some are restructuring their businesses or finding resources, and finding ways to expand production.

It is known that there are more than 3,000 small and micro enterprises in the province, of which nearly 300 have stopped operating and dissolved. According to the report, in the first 6 months of 2024, Quang Tri province created jobs for 6,578 workers, reaching 52.6% of the plan, but mainly went to work in other provinces or abroad with more than 4,000 workers.
