Won the 2020 China Good Book Award organized by the China Book Appreciation Association, voted by the Central Propaganda Department of China as " Outstanding Children's Literature Publishing Project", nominated by the State Press and Publication Administration as one of the 100 outstanding publications for youth nationwide, The Boy Who Riding the Wind and Breaking Waves can be said to be the most outstanding and famous work of writer Trieu Lang.

Revolving around 10-year-old Tan Hai Tam - the son of a navy soldier, the book tells the story of his journey to integrate into the marine environment when he was used to living in the plains, through the lesson of love for the homeland and the great sacrifice of his fathers and mothers who are navy soldiers.

Regarding this work, Trieu Lang said that she was inspired by a real-life character, a boy who won a championship in a rowing race. The interview with him gave her information about the training process of young rowers, and boat racing competitions at home and abroad.

Meanwhile, the characters of his parents come from the "memory bank" of many generations of Chinese naval officers, including her aunt as a representative of the relatives of naval families. Besides, she also reads many books, watches TV series, movies as well as documents with these topics.

She confided: "Just to prepare the materials, it took me more than a year, it was not easy. However, these things are all necessary, it is thanks to that full preparation that I can wholeheartedly focus on composing, writing a work with depth and thickness."

The work The Boy Who Riding the Wind and Breaking the Waves is published by Chibooks and Lao Dong Publishing House.

She also added, "There are two sentences in The Boy Who Riding the Wind and Breaking the Waves that I really like, which are also the sentences the boat racing boy told me when I interviewed him. I asked him how he overcame difficulties, and he replied: 'Riding all the storms on the road, whether in study or life, I can do it all'. These two sentences left a deep impression on me, when composing, I also hope to convey an optimistic, positive, and inspiring spirit to readers."

Besides this famous work, recently, Chibooks has also introduced to readers the novel Flood Season by the female writer, revolving around the little girl Lan Nhi and the flood that once swept through the village. The author said that this book was composed based on the prototype of her grandmother's true childhood story, and it was also her favorite story, so she has a passionate love for this work.

However, the journey to complete it was not easy. She confided: "When composing Flood Season, although this is a story I have heard countless times since I was a child, I still asked my grandmother to retell the story in detail from beginning to end. I used my phone to record every sentence, every detail, every story she told, then arranged them all on the computer, then continued to 'digest', absorb and create art."

At the end of the discussion, Trieu Lang affirmed that both Flood Season and The Boy Who Rides the Wind and Splits the Waves "are my representative works, and I have very deep feelings for these two works."

She also added: "I hope that when reading the two books, young readers will be like the character Lan Nhi of Flood Season . In the process of growing up, no matter how difficult or unsuccessful they are, they will still maintain their poetic nature, along with an optimistic and beautiful heart towards life, calmly facing it with endless inner strength. In addition, Tan Hai Tam in The Boy Who Riding the Wind and Breaking the Waves is also such a person. When faced with difficulties, he does not get discouraged, dares to bear the pressure, and grows up to be more and more positive and confident."

Zhao Ling was born in 1984, is a member of the China Writers Association, and is currently the editor of the Youth Literature and Art Magazine (Phoenix Children's Publishing House, Jiangsu Province). She started writing at the age of 13 and has had many published works.
