Young people in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi lead the trend of using AI

(NLDO) - Vietnamese people using AI are mainly young people aged 18-34, concentrated in two major urban centers, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

According to the results published in the World Artificial Intelligence (AI) Index by WIN (Global Independent Market Research Network) recently, Vietnam made its mark when ranking 6th out of 40 countries in 5 continents (Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Australia), reaching 59.2/100 points.

The index measures people's awareness, use, trust, and concerns about AI.

The above survey was conducted in Vietnam by Indochine Research, with a sample of 900 people in 4 main cities, between December 2024 and January 2025.

Vietnam's AI Index is ranked 6th.

AI is no longer strange but not yet a habit

According to WIN, Vietnam ranks 3rd globally in terms of trust (65.6 points) and 5th in terms of AI acceptance (71.6 points).

Vietnamese people's indexes of interest level, comfort level in use and perception of usefulness of AI also exceed the global average.

These are clear signals of growing trust in digital technology in Vietnamese society, helping to consolidate the country's position in the top 10 leading countries.

AI Index by Aspect

However, the actual usage level is still quite modest, only reaching 37.6 points, ranking 17th out of 40 countries. This is also the index that Vietnam received at the lowest level.

Survey documents in Vietnam conducted by Indochine Research Vietnam in 4 major cities show that about 60% of people have used AI technology, but only 3% use it daily.

Young people are the main driving force for AI adoption

The AI user group is mainly young people aged 18-34, especially those living in the two major cities of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi . Meanwhile, people in Da Nang and Can Tho have a significantly lower AI usage rate.

Among the youngest group surveyed (18–24 years old), about nine out of 10 people in Hanoi (89%) and Ho Chi Minh City (87%) said they had actively used AI technology.

Vietnamese people are strongly interested in AI but still worried

In Vietnam, 52% of respondents expressed concerns about how AI collects and uses personal data. This was followed by the concern that AI could replace humans in work, shared by 48% of respondents.
