(Dan Tri) - Because their family was too poor, a poor couple in Ninh Thuan had to send their child to an orphanage to be raised, but unexpectedly, she lost her child from then on. The day she found her roots, the daughter cried because her parents had passed away.
"In their last breaths, my parents told us to try to find you," Lan and Bich said, choking up, during the reunion with their sister who had been lost for more than 53 years.
Holding her parents' portrait in her hand, Ngoc, the lost sister, cried because this was the first time she had met her parents. However, she could only look at the photo, forever unable to feel the warmth of her parents.
Ngoc sobbed on the first day she met her parents (Photo cut from clip: Provided by the character).
The video recording the reunion of the three sisters moved many people to tears and attracted millions of views on social networks.
According to Ms. Lan, her family lives in Phan Rang city (Ninh Thuan province), in poor circumstances. Having two daughters, her parents had to struggle, lacking everything but still tried to keep their children from going hungry.
In 1971, her parents welcomed a pair of twins, named H. and Ngo Thi Yen Ngoc. However, tragedy struck when the mother became ill after giving birth and was no longer able to breastfeed. The family was so poor that the couple had no choice but to swallow their tears and send the twins to an orphanage, asking the nuns to help raise them.
The day her father took her two younger siblings away, Bich chased after the bus because she didn’t want to leave them. Seeing that, her father could only turn away, hiding his sorrowful eyes. Just like that, the bus disappeared and that was the last time she saw her siblings.
Three sisters were emotional when they reunited after 53 years of separation (Photo cut from clip: Provided by the character).
Although they sent their child to an orphanage, the parents still visited her from time to time. Some time later, the couple received news that H. had passed away due to illness. Not yet overcome with grief, they learned that Ngoc had been taken to Nha Trang city (Khanh Hoa province) by a nun named Ngo Liem Dinh to be raised, but there was no contact information.
"At that time, the means of communication were not as developed as they are now, and the family was poor, so they could only search in limited conditions. Decades passed, and when they passed away, my parents still hoped that we would find him. Every day, at 3am, I woke up to read Buddhist scriptures, praying for the day of reunion," Bich confided.
Only later, when they reunited, did the two sisters learn the truth that Ngoc was brought up by the nun in Long An province. When she was 2 years old, she followed the nun to Ho Chi Minh City to study and then work.
Seeing that she had grown up, the nun gave her her birth certificate and told her everything about her biological parents. Although Ngoc really wanted to find her parents, she kept it to herself for fear of making the nun sad.
Some time later, the nun - Ngoc's only relative - passed away, leaving her without spiritual support. That loneliness further urged her to return to her roots.
Following social media, she found a Youtube channel specializing in connecting people to find lost relatives. Although not well-off, Ms. Ngoc still packed up her savings and took out 5 million VND to give to anyone who had news of her family.
Just one day after posting, she received news that her relatives had been found. The person who reported the news, knowing her difficult circumstances, also refused to accept the money.
During their first meeting over the phone, Ms. Ngoc was so surprised that she did not know how to express her feelings. After confirming the information matched, the two sisters traveled from Ninh Thuan to Ho Chi Minh City to reunite.
At the reunion, Bich and Lan hugged her and cried. Ngoc, after a while, could no longer contain her emotions and burst into tears in the arms of her two sisters.
"Even though we are not rich, we have a house in the countryside waiting for you to come back to live. Every day we hope you will remember and come back to your family. Now that we have found you, we don't want you to live alone anymore. If you want, come back and live with us so we can depend on each other," Lan said emotionally.
Ms. Bich said she was touched by the two sisters' kindness, but because she did not want to let down the nun's efforts in raising them, she expressed her desire to stay in Ho Chi Minh City to take care of the other nuns.
