From changing hairstyles to intensive skin care, many young people do not hesitate to spend tens of millions of dong to invest in their appearance for Tet. For many people, Tet is the right time to carry out their long-cherished plans.

Who doesn't want to be beautiful and have a nice appearance?

In early 2024, Nguyen Tuong Vy (22 years old, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) had a car accident, leaving a scar on her mouth. She was determined to spend 20 million VND on scar reduction treatments. For Vy, it was a worthy investment to restore her appearance and optimism.

Vy said: “Every time I look in the mirror, I feel sad because I am afraid that people will notice that scar. Although it hurts my wallet, I want to celebrate Tet with a more beautiful appearance, so that I can confidently enjoy meaningful moments with my family and friends.”

Obsessed with acne-prone skin and lacking confidence in communication and work, Tran Thai Phat (24 years old, Go Vap district) also spent about 20 million VND on intensive skin care treatments and buying necessary cosmetics.

Phat said that he will be returning home for Tet in just 2 weeks, and he does not want his family to see his bad skin condition. He believes that no matter how hard the year is, when he returns home he must look fresh and healthy to reassure his family.

Having long loved the curly hairstyle combined with silver dye, Nguyen Ngoc Ngan (21 years old, Binh Thanh district) spent nearly ten million VND to have the appearance she wanted. Ngan said that the amount of money is not small for a student to spend on beauty, but because emotions at the beginning of the year are very important, she considers it a worthy investment.

Nguyen Thi Truc Mai (25 years old, Binh Thanh district) was discovered by her family to have a tattoo on the back of her neck and was forced to remove it before Tet. Mai said that it was an artistic tattoo that had impressed her for a long time and that she wanted to draw on her body, and that it had no special meaning. This made Mai's family even more opposed and set a "Tet deadline".

Truc Mai shared: “My parents at home have to face a lot of criticism from the neighbors, so it is difficult to change their long-standing way of thinking. I feel a bit resentful because tattoo removal will easily leave scars, but I still do it.”

Pham Hoai Nam, a senior at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, likes bright hair colors because they stand out. But every time he returns to Hue City for Tet, he has to dye it black.

Nam said his family doesn't like their children to have bright hair colors on important occasions, because it's a bit "cool" and indecent.

According to Nam, each place has a different culture, each family has its own conventions, so making such adjustments is a way to respect relatives and maintain family harmony.

Beauty salons are bustling at the end of the year

Mr. Thien Tran, a hair salon owner in Thap Muoi district, Dong Thap province, shared that this year, people went to get their hair done earlier than usual, and the number of customers also increased significantly. He commented that young people this Tet season prefer light hair colors such as smoky cool brown, mossy cool brown or milk tea color. Choosing to get your hair done at the end of December will be the most suitable time to have natural hair for the Tet At Ty 2025.

Ms. Uyen Nhi, owner of a spa on Ton That Thuyet Street, Ho Chi Minh City, said that at present, the number of customers has shown signs of increasing, most of them have the need for skin care to welcome Tet. Skin treatment cannot help you become more beautiful overnight, so starting now is reasonable.

Some popular skin care trends today are CO2 detox ( CO2 removal), or skin whitening... because they bring quick and obvious results. Ms. Nhi hopes to attract a large number of young customers to be able to recover her capital, because she has invested in many devices and hired more technicians at the end of the year.

Currently, some beauty salons in Ho Chi Minh City have launched big promotion programs such as "50% discount on all services and products", "Year End Party - 70% discount and receive free gifts" through livestream...
