Nghe An focuses all resources to completely handle African swine fever outbreaks and diseases in summer-autumn rice.

On the afternoon of August 8, Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the situation of disease prevention and control in summer-autumn rice crop, the current status of irrigation works and the work of preventing and controlling African swine fever in Minh Chau, Dien Chau and Quang Chau communes. He was accompanied by leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment.

The epidemic is complicated and tends to increase.

Currently, the summer-autumn rice crop in Minh Chau, Dien Chau and Quang Chau communes is entering the flowering and wax ripening period. In the area, many rice fields have been infected with leaf rollers, various types of planthoppers, and brown spot disease. Localities have organized prevention and control, however, the disease situation on rice plants is still complicated.

Comrade Nguyen Van De and the delegation also inspected the epidemic situation and the prevention and control of African swine fever in Minh Chau and Quang Chau communes. In the unfavorable weather conditions, erratic rain and sunshine caused the spread of pathogens, this is the year when African swine fever has developed very complicatedly.

Currently, there are many outbreaks of African swine fever in many communes and wards in the province; the number of pigs culled is over 19,813, weighing 1,050,287 kg. Recently, the epidemic has become complicated, the number of sick and culled pigs tends to increase in households with relatively large numbers of pigs.

On summer-autumn rice, according to the report of the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, harmful pests and diseases have arisen on a large scale and tend to increase in the coming time. In particular, sheath blight disease has spread widely, with more than 5,020 hectares of rice infected.

Completely handle outbreaks, do not let them spread or prolong

After the field inspection, comrade Nguyen Van De worked with the localities. Listening to the reports and recommendations of the communes and the Veterinary and Cultivation sectors, he emphasized: The work of preventing and controlling livestock diseases is currently facing many difficulties and lacking specialized staff. Currently, 8/8 communes of Minh Chau, Quang Chau, An Chau, Dien Chau, Tan Chau, Hung Chau, Duc Chau, Hai Chau in Dien Chau district (old) have all had the epidemic, posing a great risk if disease prevention and control measures are not implemented drastically and effectively.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that localities should do a good job in establishing and perfecting the Steering Committee for African Swine Fever Prevention and Control and epidemic prevention and control teams; assigning specific tasks to each member, regularly checking and urging to effectively carry out assigned tasks; assigning cadres to be in charge of hamlets and villages. Coordinate with specialized agencies to thoroughly prevent and control epidemics, focus all resources to completely handle outbreaks, prevent the epidemic from spreading, prolonging, and limiting the occurrence of new outbreaks.

Regarding the epidemic in summer-autumn rice crop, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to assign staff to coordinate with localities to closely monitor the fields to investigate, detect, and closely monitor the situation of plant pests; organize guidance and direct timely and effective handling.

Also on the afternoon of August 8, Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the progress of road and bridge construction on Dien Chau commune road; the repair and upgrade project of Huu Song Bung dike and works under the dike in Minh Chau commune.

These are works under the Project to repair and upgrade the drainage system of Vach Nam and Bung River. At both construction sites, there are difficulties due to site clearance issues.

After inspecting the actual situation, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De requested the People's Committees of Minh Chau and Dien Chau communes to actively pay attention and closely coordinate with the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural and Environmental Works in implementing site clearance and compensation work, to promptly hand over the site to the construction contractor, complete the project soon, and promote investment efficiency.
