SF reported that the system was allegedly deployed near the settlement of Rohan. Video footage of the airstrike showed two precision-guided missiles striking the Ukrainian system. The video was released by the Russian Defense Ministry on April 14. The attack completely destroyed the system's TRML-4D fire control radar and severely damaged a missile launcher.

Following Russia's launch of a special military operation in Ukraine, Germany promised to supply Kiev forces with 12 complete IRIS-T SLM systems and 24 IRIS-T SLS launchers. The SLM has a range of 40 km and an altitude of 20 km.

In recent months, the Russian military has stepped up attacks on Kiev's air defense systems in the special military operations zone in Ukraine.

Following the Russian attacks, Kiev forces lost dozens of air defense systems, including Western-made ones.

The attack on the IRIS-T SLM system in Kharkiv came shortly after Germany announced it would supply additional US-made MIM-104 Patriot long-range air defense systems to Kiev forces.

Previously, on April 13, the German Defense Ministry announced that the country would send an additional US-made MIM-104 Patriot long-range air defense system to Ukraine to help Kiev counter Russia's increased attacks.

The Russian Defense Ministry added that the air defense system will be taken from the German military's warehouse and will be handed over immediately.

Last year, Ukraine received two Patriot batteries, two launchers from Germany and another battery from the US with two additional launchers donated by the Netherlands.

The systems supplied to Kiev are said to be a combination of PAC-3 active attack missiles to intercept ballistic missiles with ranges of only 30-60 km and PAC-2 semi-active missiles with high-explosive fragmentation warheads to counter aircraft threats with ranges of up to 160 km.
