According to information from Vietcombank, from July 1 to 15, there were more than 4 million transactions authenticated by biometrics (Facepay) according to regulations, including types of transactions such as: Money transfer over 10 million VND/transaction; money transfer over 20 million VND/day; payment of goods and service bills over 100 million VND/day; first-time activation or change of phone using VCB Digibank...

The number of transactions authenticated by Facepay accounts for about 4% of the total number of financial transactions processed on VCB Digibank.

Regarding the number of customers who have completed biometric registration according to regulations, Vietcombank said that over 3 million customers have successfully registered, mainly updating online on the application. The number of customers updating information at the counter (bank transaction point) accounts for nearly 4% of the total number of registered customers.

Vietcombank Retail Director, Ms. Doan Hong Nhung, said that with over 3 million customers successfully registering for biometrics, Vietcombank is one of the top banks in terms of the number of customers registering for biometrics according to statistics from the State Bank of Vietnam.

Vietcombank begins collecting customers' biometrics from June 18.

Previously, Vietcombank and the Center for Research and Application of Population Data and Citizen Identification (RAR) signed an agreement on “Electronic Authentication Service”. This is the first bank to apply the Ministry of Public Security’s Electronic Authentication Service to collect, clean information and authenticate biometrics for customers on digital banking channels.

According to Decision No. 2345/2023 of the State Bank of Vietnam, from July 1, 2024, online transactions of individual customers must be authenticated with biometric identification signs, including: Money transfer from 10 million VND/transaction or total transaction value in a day over 20 million; money transfer abroad; bill payment over 100 million VND/day....

Banks note that customers should only update biometric information via the bank's official application, or directly at the bank's transaction points, and absolutely not update via any other website or application to avoid the risk of fraud and fraud.
