Post on social media asking students to share to find relatives
This morning, April 28, the HCM City National University Dormitory Student page on Facebook posted an urgent message: "Nguyen Thanh D. where are you now? I hope you will contact me again. Please help me share this post so that D. can see this post."
Attached to this short article is a photo of a male student of the Department of Archival Science - Office Management at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University).
Because this is a public group of the student community of Ho Chi Minh City National University Dormitory with more than 56,300 members and many followers, right after the above article was posted, many people were interested.
While in early April 2024, a male student residing at the dormitory of Ho Chi Minh City National University went missing and there are still no clues, the news that another student has "disappeared" has made many people worried.
Students often stay at relatives' houses, not missing.
Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Tran Nam - Head of Student Affairs Department of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University), said: "With the information about finding the person on social networks, through our investigation, the person in the photo is indeed Nguyen Thanh D., a student of the Faculty of Archival Studies - Office Administration, but this student is temporarily suspended from studying and has reserved his study results. There is no story of this student going missing."
Mr. Tang Huu Thuy - Director of the Dormitory Management Center of Ho Chi Minh City National University, also said that the center verified as soon as it received the above information.
"After more than an hour of searching, we identified student D. as a resident at the Ho Chi Minh City National University Dormitory and were able to contact him. D. is not currently in the dormitory but is staying at a relative's house in Ho Chi Minh City.
The student also confirmed that the person who posted the information on social media this morning was not his relative. At the same time, D. said that on May 2, he will return to the dormitory," Mr. Thuy added.
At noon the same day, Tuoi Tre Online reporters contacted Nguyen Thanh D., when this student was in Ho Chi Minh City with his relatives. D. expressed his indignation that someone had impersonated his relatives and posted a "looking for someone" notice on social media.
D. also added that recently this male student has received many harassing phone calls from strange numbers and now there is another person impersonating a relative posting this type of post on social media but it is unclear who posted it.
"I live in the dormitory of Ho Chi Minh City National University. Recently, I often go to my relatives' house to stay with them because my mother has just moved to Ho Chi Minh City and is planning to move in with me. I have been on hold at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for almost a year now. I have no problem at all. The person who posted that post is not my relative," D. affirmed.
