Meta said that since early November, Threads has added 35 million new users after X changed its terms of service. Millions of X users have left the platform for rival services like Threads and Bluesky.

With impressive growth, Meta's new product is expected to reach 1 billion users similar to Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp before.

Just a few days ago, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announced that Threads added 15 million new users in the first two weeks of November. The surge in users was driven by a number of factors, including X and the US presidential election results.

Many have objected to Musk's policies, like using user posts as training material for the Grok chatbot. Along with Bluesky, Threads is seen as a solid alternative to X. It offers features that are closer to Twitter's early days. The app was recently updated to allow you to customize your feed, showing only content from people you follow.

Before setting the new record, Threads had 275 million monthly active users, up 175% from a year ago. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is confident that Threads will be the company's next big social app. On average, more than 1 million people sign up every day.

Threads launched in July 2023 as a competitor to X. X still has more users than Threads, but the gap is narrowing. According to analytics firm Sensor Tower, Musk’s social network now has nearly 318 million monthly users, down 24% from when Musk completed the Twitter acquisition in October 2022.
