Looking forward to the full moon festival
When it comes to Mid-Autumn Festival, all children are excited about activities such as watching lion dances, carrying lanterns, enjoying cakes and candies... However, due to difficult family life, some children cannot have a complete Mid-Autumn Festival. Sharing the dreams of the full moon festival of children in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, the Provincial Youth Union has just coordinated with the Forestry Company, the Youth Union of the Provincial Agencies and Enterprises to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival for Children - Lanterns light up dreams for nearly 900 children in Ham Can commune, Ham Thuan Nam district.
Although the evening program had just begun and it was raining, because of excitement, curiosity and joy, the children of Ham Can commune were present very early to enjoy the bustling, joyful atmosphere of the full moon festival. Wearing clean school uniforms to join the Mid-Autumn Festival with their friends, unable to hide the joy and excitement on her face, K'Thi Nhu Y, a student of class 1A at Ham Can 1 Primary School, shared: "This is the first time I have celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival in such a bustling, joyful atmosphere. I was able to eat candy, receive lanterns, play games, watch lion dances and interact with Uncle Cuoi and Sister Hang, I feel very happy. This year's Mid-Autumn Festival is very special to me and my friends".
As soon as it got dark, colorful lanterns were handed out to the children one by one. Holding the fun toys in their hands, the children enjoyed watching the performances and the unique lion dances. But the most exciting part was the mid-autumn lantern procession, the children's laughter and singing echoed throughout the streets.
Join hands to take care of children in ethnic minority areas
Ham Can is a purely ethnic minority commune with 1,200 households, of which more than 85% are Raglai. In recent years, with the support of the Party and State's policies, the Ham Can commune government has paid great attention to and cared for economic development to improve the material life of the people. In particular, poverty reduction work is carried out regularly, the Front from commune to village coordinates with the government and member organizations to mobilize people to compete in developing production and business, converting crops and livestock, and sharing production experiences. Thanks to that, people's lives have gradually improved. However, the conditions for children here to play and entertain are still very poor.
The program “Mid-Autumn Festival for Children - Lanterns to Light Up Dreams” was organized by the Provincial Youth Union to bring children in Ham Can a complete and meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival. The program presented a children's playground; 10 scholarships to excellent students who overcame difficulties and gave nearly 900 gifts including moon cakes, lanterns, fresh milk and candies to students of kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in the commune.
According to Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Tran Thi Hoa Xuan, the program is not only an activity to maintain traditional folk culture but also a festival and New Year's Day for children; especially children in remote areas, ethnic minority areas. At the same time, the program mobilizes and attracts the attention of all levels, sectors, and social forces in the work of protecting, caring for, and educating children and building a strong Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Team. Previously, the program "Mid-Autumn Festival for Children - Lanterns to Light Up Dreams" reached more than 900 children in La Da commune, Ham Thuan Bac district.
Leaving Ham Can when the sky was already dark, perhaps not only us, but also the children had a very special feeling. Although not as materially complete as in the city, but with the attention of all levels, sectors, organizations, and localities, it has partly brought to the children in remote areas, ethnic minority areas a happy Mid-Autumn Festival, warm with love.
