The reason why the number of candidates in Ho Chi Minh City taking the national excellent student exam doubled

Of the 279 students from Ho Chi Minh City participating in this year's national excellent student exam, 191 students came from Le Hong Phong, Tran Dai Nghia, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Gia Dinh, Nguyen Huu Huan, Mac Dinh Chi, Marie Curie, Binh Phu, Nguyen Tat Thanh, An Lac high schools, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's Practice High School and 88 students from the Gifted High School (Ho Chi Minh City National University).

Mr. Pham Quang Tam, Deputy Head of the Secondary Education Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said that Circular No. 17/2023/TT-BGDDT issued on October 10, 2023 on the Regulations on the National Excellent Student Selection Exam stipulates that the maximum number of units is 10 candidates per team for each subject, with Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi having a maximum of 20 candidates per team. Therefore, the number of candidates in Ho Chi Minh City participating in this exam doubled compared to the previous school year.

The leaders of the Secondary Education Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that students participating in this year's national excellent student exam have all undergone 10 weeks of knowledge training with experienced teachers and experts in fields related to the subject. The training content is advanced, in-depth topics, close to national and international exams so that students can become familiar with the exam format and knowledge content.

Previously, on December 26, 2023, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to launch the army to recruit excellent students to participate in the national high school excellent student selection exam for the 2023-2024 school year. Meeting with 279 excellent students who will participate in the exam on January 5 and 6, Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training, said: "You are now not only the face of the school but also the expectation of the whole city. The number of candidates participating increases, so the results must be higher than last year. You must be determined and strive to achieve results, not let down your teachers and parents, and bring glory to your city".
