The Vietnam SPS Office has just sent a dispatch to units informing them about the draft of some changes in regulations for agricultural products exported to some markets.
US rules to phase out use of products containing chlorpyrifos
The Vietnam National Sanitary and Phytosanitary Information and Enquiry Point (Vietnam SPS Office) has compiled draft and effective notifications on food safety and animal and plant quarantine (SPS) measures from November 21 to December 20, 2024 of World Trade Organization Members with a total of 128 notifications, including 98 draft notifications for comments and 30 effective notifications.

There are some announcements that need to be noted. Specifically, for the US market, it issues a notice regulating the cessation of the use of products containing chlorpyrifos; proposes to remove the maximum residue limit (MRL) of chlorpyrifos in some products; recommends amending regulations on food additives; and regulations on tolerance of the pesticide Cyazofamid.
For the EU market, promulgates regulatory notification (EU) 2019/627 on measures to implement official controls on products of animal origin intended for human consumption; changes to the maximum residue levels for chlorpropham, fuberidazole, ipconazole, methoxyfenozide, S-metolachlor and triflusulfuron, dimoxystrobin, ethephon and propamocarb in or on certain products; proposes changes to the MRLs for certain agricultural chemicals in food.
Taiwan (China) market, proposed draft standards on pesticide residue limits in food; draft amendments to standards on technical specifications, scope, application and residue levels of food additives; proposed changes to MRL levels for some agricultural chemicals in food.
Indonesian market, issuing notice of authority to guide and control the issuance of Certificate of quality assurance and safety for aquatic products in Indonesia; draft Regulations of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority related to food packaging; draft Regulations of the Indonesian National Food Authority on maximum residue limits of pesticides in food.
UK market amends regulations on official controls
Brazilian market, draft list of active ingredients of pesticides, household cleaning products and wood preservatives; draft resolution establishing technical specifications, maximum limits and conditions of use for food additives and food additives; draft resolution establishing phytosanitary requirements for the import of Freesia spp; draft resolution on "List of pesticides selected for analysis in herbal medicine"; (establishing phytosanitary requirements for the import of okra seeds ( Abelmoschus esculentus ).
The Australia-New Zealand market has proposed amendments to Schedule 20 of the Australia-New Zealand Food Standards Code; amendments to the Import Health Standards for the storage of plant products for human consumption; maximum residue levels for agricultural compounds; proposed measures to manage Xylella fastidiosa in crops; and the Import Health Standards for seeds for planting.

The Vietnam SPS Office requests that units research and notify organizations and individuals with export products related to the above items and markets for appropriate adjustments.
