The Nam B'Lang volcano landscape has many historical, cultural and scientific research values, so it has become a visual image for propaganda and education for the young generation.
Nam B'Lang volcano (Buon Choah commune and Nam Da commune, Krong No district) is located at an altitude of about 601m above sea level, formed in the final stage of geological development history (Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark) during the Quaternary basalt eruption stage.
From a distance, Nam B'Lang volcano has a typical textbook isosceles trapezoid shape and from above the volcano has a very characteristic funnel shape and flow channel. Up close, you can clearly observe the terrain steps and the changes in the mouth through the eruptions.
This is the volcano that created the largest and most unique cave system in Southeast Asia. There are at least 4 eruptions flowing in 4 different directions (Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, Southeast) and creating 4 different cave systems, in which the cave system in the Northwest of the crater is distributed farthest from the crater and has distribution characteristics as well as cave formation mechanisms, the shops here are very rich and diverse.
Nam B'lang volcano includes a system of caves scattered around the area, containing prehistoric human remains dating back 6,500 to 7,000 years and is considered one of the volcanoes with the most unique long cave systems in Southeast Asia.
Along with the geomorphological landscape, Nam B'Lang Volcanic Scenic Area can become an open-air geological museum of volcanoes, which is very good for both professional research and outdoor enjoyment. In addition, this is a place where many ethnic groups live together and have a very rich and diverse traditional culture.
On March 12, 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 611/QD-BVHTTDL on ranking the Nam B'lang Volcano Scenic Area, Buon Choah Commune and Nam Da Commune, Krong No District, Dak Nong Province as a National Monument.
