Kon Ko Tu community cultural tourism village is the first tourist destination in Kon Tum province to be recognized as a 3-star OCOP tourism product. This place preserves many unique traditional cultural features of the Ba Na people.
Located on the banks of the poetic Dak Bla River, Kon Ko Tu community cultural tourism village (Dak Ro Wa commune, Kon Tum) is preserving the traditional culture of the Ba Na people. This is the first place in Kon Tum province to be recognized as a 3-star OCOP tourism product. The ancient village has an ideal location, standing on both the mountain and the river, with about 600 Ba Na ethnic residents. The communal house located in the center of the village along with more than 20 ancient stilt houses still preserved in the community has created a unique feature for Kon Ko Tu in tourism development. In addition, Kon Ko Tu Village also has architectural works bearing the ancient features of the Central Highlands people mixed with a bit of Western culture such as Kon Ko Tu church made entirely of wood, with a style combining European architecture and the traditional cultural identity of the Ba Na people. For a long time, the Ba Na community in Kon Ko Tu village has known how to open homestays, build stilt houses for tourists to visit,... Thereby, building more tours with forms such as gong performances, xoang dance, bringing visitors to directly experience traditional handicrafts such as weaving, brocade weaving, rowing along the Dak Bla river... Since being planned as a community tourism village, Dak Ro Wa commune has organized many trips for homestay households to experience and train tourism models in other provinces, and has also collaborated with the province's community college to train and grant restaurant service certificates to 25 students in the village. Ms. Thuy is one of many ethnic minorities who have been granted a bartender certificate. Currently, this woman actively participates in local tourism activities. Kon Ko Tu community cultural tourism village has currently applied information technology to tourism development such as scanning payment codes, QR codes to find destination information... The study and making of hand-woven fabrics by indigenous weaving groups in the Central Highlands is being organized into many workshops to pass on and preserve traditional crafts to the younger generation, and at the same time introduce them to tourists. Kon Ko Tu village also established a village culinary group so that visitors can prepare Ba Na specialties such as bamboo rice, grilled chicken, leaf salad, grilled village pork skewers... Kon Ko Tu community cultural tourism village attracts tourists with its natural landscape and traditional cultural beauty in the activities and lives of the Ba Na ethnic group. With the remaining ancient features of a hundred years, mixed with a bit of modern life, the people of Kon Ko Tu village still live peacefully, ready to welcome foreign tourists. With their creative efforts and eagerness to learn in the process of doing tourism and with the support of the local people, the lives of the local people are improving day by day. On average, every year, there are nearly 1,000 tourists visiting Kon Ko Tu village, including about 300 international visitors. Foreign tourists take souvenir photos with the Rong house when visiting Kon Ko Tu community tourism village. In order to preserve and promote the advantages and strengths of culture and tourism of the village, Kon Tum province has also strengthened propaganda and mobilized people to raise awareness of protecting their own traditional culture. In addition, promoting the development of community tourism, rural tourism in particular, associated with the work of building new rural areas, building cultural villages, craft villages associated with tourism development, contributing to preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic groups.
