Up to now, Soc Trang province has 75 communes meeting the new rural standards, of which 30 communes have met the advanced new rural standards; 3 communes have met the model new rural standards and 5 district-level units have been recognized as meeting the standards/completing the task of building new rural areas.

Comrade Phan Van Nha - Chairman of Long Duc Commune People's Committee (Long Phu District) said that after more than 4 years of implementing the National Target Program on building advanced new-style rural communes, it has opened up a comprehensive breakthrough direction in all fields in the commune, especially in shifting agriculture from manual labor to over 90% mechanization. The infrastructure system has been invested in to facilitate easy travel for people and transport of goods, contributing to increasing income from 70 million VND to 120 million VND/ha of agricultural land. Nearly 100% of households have electricity, and 100% of audio-visual equipment is available. Political security and social order and safety are maintained stably.

According to comrade Phan Van Nha, to achieve results in building communes that meet advanced NTM standards, the local experience is to always uphold the role and responsibility of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations in directing agricultural and rural development and improving people's lives, while promoting the role of people as masters. Mobilize the strength of the entire political system, under the leadership of the Party, especially at the grassroots level. Regularly inspect and correct deviations, promptly resolve obstacles and difficulties. Well implement the grassroots democracy regulations, with the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people inspect, people supervise, people benefit", using people's strength to take care of people's lives, the State directs and supports things that people cannot do. Focus on investing in developing rural infrastructure, especially the system of roads, irrigation and rural electricity. Promote human resource training, focus on transferring and applying scientific and technological advances in production.

As for An Thanh Dong commune (Cu Lao Dung district), after being recognized as meeting the NTM standards in 2019, the commune immediately started implementing the maintenance and improvement of the criteria according to regulations, to complete the province's plan to meet the advanced NTM standards in 2024. Accordingly, the commune has mobilized all resources from higher levels to deploy the construction of synchronous rural infrastructure, economic structure and reasonable production forms, suitable to local practical conditions. Thanks to that, the face of the countryside has changed, people's income has increased to an average of nearly 73 million VND/person/year and the commune no longer has poor households.

Comrade Vuong Quoc Nam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated that building a new rural area is a key, comprehensive, long-term task and a regular and continuous process, aiming at the goal of sustainable rural development. In order to maintain the achieved advanced new rural criteria and strive for higher achievements, Comrade Vuong Quoc Nam suggested that communes that have met the advanced new rural standards continue to propagate and mobilize each household to have a deeper awareness of the strategic and important role in building a new rural area. Focus on issues of environmental protection and creating a "bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe" rural landscape. Increase mobilization and integration of capital from other programs and projects to complete the targets and objectives in building a new rural area.
