Aiming towards sustainable agriculture, localities in the province are actively implementing organic agricultural production models and encouraging people to increase the use of organic fertilizers.

Organic rice production model in Xuan Minh commune (Tho Xuan) gives high productivity and quality.

In recent years, Tho Xuan district has cooperated with a number of companies inside and outside the province to build organic rice production models in communes with a total area of ​​119.2 hectares. In the 2024 crop, the district implemented an organic rice production model on a scale of 10 hectares in Ngoc Trung village, Xuan Minh commune with 18 participating households, using rice varieties TBR225, TBR 39, Gia Loc 35... During the cultivation process, people do not use chemical pesticides or inorganic fertilizers, so the rice yield is quite high. According to Ms. Mai Thi Binh, Ngoc Trung village, Xuan Minh commune (Tho Xuan), her family participates in the production of 2 sao of rice using organic fertilizers. Participating in the model, people are supported by Tho Xuan district with funds to buy rice seeds, Eco Nutrients biological organic fertilizers and are trained in farming techniques. This is an imported organic fertilizer, used to spray on leaves, providing enough nutrients for rice plants to grow and develop. Thanks to proper care and technical processes, the yield of winter-spring rice reached 3 quintals/sao, an increase of 50 kg/sao compared to conventionally cultivated rice.

This is the second rice crop, Xuan Minh Agricultural Services and Rural Development Cooperative cooperated with an organic fertilizer supplier to deploy organic rice production, with an area of ​​10 hectares. According to Ms. Do Thi Hoa, Director of the Cooperative: Through practical use, it shows that applying organic fertilizer makes rice tiller strongly, tiller in a concentrated manner, the number of effective tillers is 6-7/clump, 0.5 more tillers/clump on average compared to mass production, and has good resistance to pests and diseases. The rice plants are strong, less prone to lodging, and ripen in a concentrated manner, limiting unfavorable weather conditions, the length of the panicle is 24.5 cm, the percentage of solid grains is high; the yield is 6 tons/ha, 10 tons/ha higher than the mass production area. The economic efficiency from organic rice production is 1 million VND/ha higher than mass production.

Currently, the province has 13.26 hectares of land for cultivation that meets organic standards. In addition, the whole province has about 5,100 hectares of land for organic production and organic standards. Of which, rice is 4,264 hectares, tea is 24 hectares, vegetables and beans of all kinds are 47.6 hectares, fruit trees are 481 hectares, medicinal plants are 281.5 hectares, and other plants are 1.9 hectares. Through initial assessments by the agricultural sector, organic production has improved production efficiency on the same unit area, the product value per hectare of organic land is 1.2 - 1.5 times higher than non-organic. Developing organic agriculture gradually changes the form of production, changes awareness and thinking of agricultural production to economics, digital economy in agriculture for people and businesses. Thereby, creating the premise and basis to attract businesses to invest in developing agricultural production.

Implementing the project of developing organic agriculture in Thanh Hoa province, period 2022-2030, by 2024, the whole province strives to have an area of ​​organic production and organic standards of 2,000 hectares, of which rice is 1,215 hectares, vegetables of all kinds are 139 hectares, fruit trees are 425 hectares and other trees are 63 hectares. To achieve that goal, the agricultural sector and localities in the province are actively informing, propagating, raising awareness and understanding of the community about organic agriculture, gradually changing perceptions of traditional production, moving towards safe and sustainable organic agriculture. At the same time, building agricultural production models using organic fertilizers on crops to introduce and encourage agricultural production households to participate in learning and following. Promoting the role of enterprises and cooperatives as the core, orienting production, applying and transferring science and technology, supporting input to build and develop organic agricultural production areas.
