During the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year, the forest rangers in Coc Ly commune, Bac Ha district, have implemented many synchronous measures to strictly protect natural forest resources, especially areas with rare ironwood and pearlwood trees.

In addition to coordinating with 18 members of the community forest protection team in villages such as Coc Sam, Nam Ke, Tham Phuc, Sin Chai, Lang Pam, etc., the forest rangers have set up a control post in Lang Pam village - a place with a large area of natural forest and rugged terrain, posing a potential risk of forest encroachment during the holidays.

Mr. Vui Van Dang, a ranger at Coc Ly Commune Forest Ranger Station, said: The checkpoint is maintained 24/7 during the holiday, with the task of controlling people entering and leaving the forest, supervising the transportation of forest products and promptly handling unusual situations. This is a key point, connecting trails leading to the old forest area - where there are many ancient nghien trees. At the same time, propaganda and mobilization work among people is promoted, helping to raise public awareness in forest protection, forest fire prevention and illegal logging.

Van Ban district currently has an area of forest and forestry planning land of more than 112 thousand hectares, of which special-use forest is nearly 25 thousand hectares, protection forest is nearly 47 thousand hectares, production forest is over 40 thousand hectares; forest cover reaches 68.76%. According to the fire-prone zone, in the dry season of 2025, the district has more than 53 thousand hectares of flammable forest (including natural forest, planted forest and bare land, shrubs).
To improve the effectiveness of forest protection and forest fire prevention and control during the dry season of 2025, especially during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, the district has established and maintained 32 forest protection posts, including 29 permanent posts and 3 temporary posts. The forest protection posts are located at key locations and "gateways" to the forest, going to people's production areas to propagate and mobilize people in the area to participate in forest protection, and to perform well in forest fire prevention and control. At the same time, more warning signs of forest fire risks have been added in high-risk areas, on routes leading to the forest to propagate and warn people, and raise awareness of forest protection.
Mr. Ly Lao San, Head of the Forest Protection Team of Khanh Yen Thuong Commune, shared: Due to the nature of the forest protection profession, we rarely have holidays. The team has 15 members, each shift assigns forces to both patrol and be on duty to prevent and fight fires at the checkpoint.
The work of recording duty logs, patrol logs and summarizing the situation is fully implemented and reported to the District Inspection Department according to regulations.

Mr. Lu Van Viet, Deputy Head of the Van Ban District Forest Protection Department, said: Bad guys often take advantage of the opportunity to enter the forest to exploit wood and hunt wild animals. This requires the forces to guard and patrol the forest more often. During holidays, we must be even more vigilant against bad guys.

Mr. Vu Hong Diep, Deputy Head of the Provincial Forest Protection Department, said: Guarding, patrolling and searching activities are regular tasks of the forest rangers and forest protection forces in the province. However, during holidays and Tet, forest guarding and patrolling activities are carried out more frequently and actively. The forces always maintain a high level of vigilance, not leaving any room for negligence, creating opportunities for bad guys to destroy forests, illegally exploit timber and hunt animals.
