On November 11, the Investigation Police Agency, Dong Hoi City Police (Quang Binh) announced that the unit has just issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and issue a temporary detention order for 3 accused related to the billion-dollar gambling ring.

Previously, around the beginning of August 2023, the investigation agency verified that the suspect Cao Vu Trong (33 years old, Nam Ly Ward, Dong Hoi City) had created accounts to conduct online football betting. Trong continued to divide the subordinate accounts including 1 account for Nguyen Duc Long (26 years old, Nam Ly Ward, Dong Hoi City) and 4 accounts for Thai Minh Khoa (24 years old, Dong Le Town, Tuyen Hoa District) to participate.

Nguyen Duc Long continued to divide his account into 5 other accounts to gamble with more than 2 billion VND; Thai Minh Khoa used the account he was given to gamble with nearly 4.9 billion VND. In addition, Khoa also divided his account to provide other suspects with 6.6 billion VND to gamble.

Through investigation, the authorities determined that the total amount of gambling money involved in the three defendants was more than 13 billion VND, and seized 3 mobile phones from the defendants. Defendant Cao Vu Trong was prosecuted for organizing gambling, the remaining 2 defendants were prosecuted for participating in gambling.
