The 27 km long Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway, passing through Dong Thap and Tien Giang, with a total cost of more than 5,880 billion VND, started construction on the morning of June 25.
Of the total length of the route, the section passing through Dong Thap is more than 16 km, the rest is in Tien Giang. The project has its starting point connecting My An - Cao Lanh expressway in Cao Lanh district (Dong Thap), the end point connecting Central - My Thuan expressway, Cai Be district (Tien Giang).

The second horizontal highway of the West is nearly 25 m wide, has 4 lanes, and a speed of 100 km/h; in which phase one will be 17 m wide, 4 lanes, and a speed of 80 km/h, expected to be completed by the end of 2025. When completed, the highway will meet the transportation needs on the northern bank of the Tien River, contributing to reducing the load on the existing National Highway 30.
The project also connects the North-South expressway in the east along the vertical axis, including: Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan - Can Tho - Ca Mau. In the west, the North-South expressway connecting route is being formed, including: Ho Chi Minh road - My An - Cao Lanh - Lo Te - Rach Soi.

Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Pham Thien Nghia said that the province identifies transport infrastructure as a driving force, creating a premise for socio-economic development. Key projects in recent times have been highly effective, helping the locality connect three major centers: Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Phnom Penh (Cambodia).
Last week, the first horizontal highway in the West, Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang, over 188 km long, passing through 4 provinces and cities: An Giang, Soc Trang, Can Tho and Hau Giang, with a total investment of nearly 44,700 billion VND, started construction.
