DNVN - Recently, Japan Airlines (JAL) signed a contract with Airbus to purchase 20 wide-body A350-900 aircraft and 11 single-aisle A321neo aircraft, completing the commitment announced at the beginning of the year.

The signing ceremony took place during the Farnborough Airshow 2024. The new A350-900 will join JAL's A350 fleet for international flights, while the A321neo will serve domestic routes.

JAL has ordered a total of 52 A350s to date, with 18 in service. The A321neo is JAL's first order for the Airbus single-aisle product line.

“This marks a new milestone in our partnership with JAL as they order the A321neo. We are committed to fully supporting Japan Airlines as its ever-expanding fleet serves more domestic and international routes in its network,” said Christian Scherer, CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft.

The A350 is a modern long-range wide-body aircraft, leading in the 300-410 seat aircraft segment.

The all-new A350 design incorporates advanced aerodynamics and technologies, delivering unprecedented standards in efficiency and passenger comfort. As of the end of June 2024, the A350 Family has received more than 1,300 orders from 60 customers worldwide , making it one of the most successful widebody aircraft ever.

The A321neo is the largest version of Airbus’ best-selling A320neo family, offering exceptional range and performance. Thanks to a combination of new-generation engines and Sharklets, the A321neo delivers 50% less noise, 20% more fuel efficiency and 20% lower CO₂ emissions than previous generation single-aisle aircraft, while offering maximum passenger comfort in the widest single-aisle cabin available today. To date, more than 90 customers worldwide have ordered more than 6,400 A321neos.

Like all Airbus aircraft, the A350 can already operate on 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). At the same time, Airbus is aiming for 100% SAF across its entire fleet by 2030.
