After 2 days with 7 main discussion sessions, 2 introductory sessions and 1 special session along with many meaningful activities, this afternoon, October 24, the 16th International Scientific Conference on the East Sea "Orienting Thinking, Promoting Standards" ended successfully.

Through the opening remarks, panel discussions and discussions clarifying issues in the main discussion sessions, leaders and senior officials from countries in the region, representatives of international organizations and experts all unanimously affirmed that the East Sea is extremely important in many aspects and supported the maintenance of a peaceful, stable, prosperous region, ensuring safety, security and maritime navigation. The delegates attending the workshop also promoted the value of compliance with international law, encouraged increased cooperation and emphasized the central and important role of ASEAN in ensuring the East Sea is a sea of peace, stability and prosperity.


In his closing remarks at the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy, emphasized that the 16th International Scientific Conference on the East Sea, taking place in the context of the 30th anniversary of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), is of great significance in affirming the importance of the Convention. Discussing at the workshop, the majority of scholars supported diplomatic and cooperative measures to maintain regional peace and stability and address regional and global challenges, helping to achieve sustainable development goals.

The Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy also affirmed that in the context of a world with many fluctuations with geopolitical shifts, competition expanding to vision and viewpoints on the development of science and technology, there are still many tools to help manage tensions, which are: Diplomacy, international law, common commitment and peaceful cooperation. The role of ASEAN is more important than ever, ASEAN needs to continue to demonstrate its central role in promoting compliance and strengthening common standards to help ensure peace and stability in the region.
