City Ophthalmology Association held the First Congress, term 2024 - 2029
(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of April 20, at Hai Phong Eye Hospital, the City Ophthalmology Association held its First Congress, term 2024 - 2029.
Attending the Congress were comrades: Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hiep, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Ophthalmological Association, General Secretary of the Association; and representatives of leaders of relevant agencies and units.
Vietnam Ophthalmological Association was established in 1960, is a professional social organization that brings together Vietnamese organizations and individuals operating in the fields of ophthalmology and related fields with the aim of: developing ophthalmology through promoting research, exchanging experiences, updating and improving knowledge and skills for members; participating in training, disseminating, applying and developing ophthalmological techniques and services to serve the cause of blindness prevention in Vietnam, integrating with regional and world ophthalmology.
After nearly 65 years of operation and growth, the Vietnam Ophthalmological Association has become a prestigious professional association in the country and internationally. Currently, the Association has more than 2,000 members in provinces and cities across the country, nearly 30 local associations and branches.
At this time, the Hai Phong City Ophthalmology Association was newly established. This is a step forward, demonstrating the development of the city's Ophthalmology sector, aiming to gather and unite members, protect the legitimate rights and interests of members, contribute to promoting the work of preventing blindness, eye care and developing the Vietnamese ophthalmology sector in general, and the Hai Phong ophthalmology sector in particular.
Speaking at the Congress, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac Nam acknowledged and highly appreciated the establishment of the City Ophthalmology Association. He requested the Association's leaders to focus on implementing the principles and purposes of the Association's Charter approved by the city; operate the Association effectively; encourage members to actively study, research, and apply science in professional activities to better serve the people of the city and neighboring provinces, especially in eye care and protection. Actively implement seminars, thematic conferences, scientific reporting conferences... to create an environment for doctors and scientists to express and share their experiences and research in professional activities so that members can learn, exchange and progress together. Implement community activities in the field of ophthalmology, paying special attention to the issue of eye health for the elderly, school eyes and the activities of the Blind Association centers in the city...
In addition, it is recommended that the Association's leaders expand connections with the Vietnam Ophthalmology Association and Ophthalmology Associations of provinces and cities nationwide to enhance exchange activities, scientific activities, and experience sharing, thereby creating practical values for each member in their professional activities. At the same time, coordinate with the Vietnam Ophthalmology Association to organize the National Ophthalmology Conference scheduled to be held in Hai Phong to attract members and scientists around the world to participate, contributing to introducing and promoting the city's economic, cultural and tourism activities to friends and colleagues nationwide and internationally.
On this occasion, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested the Central Eye Hospital, the Vietnam Ophthalmological Association, the city's departments, branches and organizations to pay attention, help and create favorable conditions for the Hai Phong Ophthalmological Association so that the Association can have strong development steps in the coming time. He believes that with the dynamic, creative, disciplined and united spirit of the comrades, promoting the good tradition of the medical profession, the City Ophthalmological Association will create new driving forces, contributing to promoting socio-economic development, contributing to making Hai Phong become the medical center of the Northern coastal region.
The Congress elected 18 members to the Executive Committee, 9 members to the Standing Committee, 5 members to the Inspection Committee of the First Hai Phong City Ophthalmology Association, term 2024 - 2029. Of which, Dr. Tran Manh Do, former Director of Hai Phong Eye Hospital, is the Chairman of the City Ophthalmology Association. The delegates unanimously approved the Congress Resolution, determining the direction and tasks for the City Ophthalmology Association to officially come into operation, striving to bring the Hai Phong Ophthalmology sector to new heights.
