How to study and work when AI is 'everywhere'?

Most fields today have the presence of AI, so how should people study, work, and choose future careers to avoid being eliminated?

C CHOOSING A CAREER, CONSIDER WHO'S POSSIBILITY TO INFLUENCE

Speaking at the forum "Positioning Vietnamese values abroad in the digital age and artificial intelligence" organized by the Vietnamese Women's Forum in Europe in mid-June in Budapest, Hungary, Mr. Tran Coi, Director ofFPT Slovakia/FPT Czech Republic, said that AI could cause mass unemployment by taking away the jobs of many people. Forecasts show that AI can completely replace 5-10% of human jobs. About 60% of jobs can be partially replaced by AI, and 30% of jobs will not be replaced by AI.

AI models will find it difficult to replace humans in areas that require creativity and soft skills such as communication, empathy, understanding, and adaptation. At the same time, job positions in companies that require creativity, artistry, customer service, leadership skills, and decision-making skills are also difficult for AI to effectively replace.

"When choosing a career, young people need to learn how the latest AI technology will affect their career, what tasks AI can do so they can find ways to adapt. I quote a good quote from Mr. Ginni Rometty, former director of IBM Company: "AI will not replace humans, but those who use AI will replace those who have never used AI", said Mr. Tran Coi.

LIFELONG SELF-LEARNING IS THE KEY

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Huong, Chairwoman of the Council of the University of Education , Vietnam National University, Hanoi, said that the AI era is reshaping global education with three main trends: personalized learning, narrowing the learning gap, and transforming the role of teachers. Teachers become knowledge coaches, focusing on designing creative learning environments and developing critical, interdisciplinary skills.

Thus, to adapt, it is urgent to transform the educational model from "communication" to "empowerment". AI is not only a teaching support tool but also a powerful catalyst to promote the democratization of knowledge, highlighting the role of learners. In this context, the modern educational model needs to orient the development of four core competencies. The first is critical thinking. The second is interdisciplinary creativity, demonstrated through connecting knowledge from many fields, especially between science , technology and art (STEM). The third is lifelong self-learning. And finally, digital ethics.

"Digital ethics is an indispensable foundation in the AI era, which needs to be trained through learners' exposure to simulated situations. From there, learners clearly understand technological responsibilities, from data security to facing algorithmic bias (bias is the tendency to make decisions or interpret events in favor of one side - PV), all supported by specialized educational AI tools," Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Huong shared.

Speaking to Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Phan Dinh Long Nhat, Director of AIVOS Company Limited, specializing in AI application products, said that from the perspective of schools, when AI is present everywhere, it is impossible to prevent students from using AI in the learning process. However, the most important thing is that families and schools educate students on the awareness and ethics required when using AI.

Vietnamese women are not outside the process of popularizing AI.

Dr. Phan Bich Thien, President of the Vietnamese Women's Forum in Europe, said that in the context of AI changing the world every day, Vietnamese people abroad need to affirm their own identity, from language to culture, to integrate but not dissolve. In that context, Vietnamese women abroad are the leading ambassadors.

"Many people think that women are not sensitive and cannot perceive AI. But on the contrary, reality proves that women are very willing to participate in the learning process as well as use AI in their work. Not only that, they also participate in the process of designing, deploying, implementing and building AI models," said Ms. Márta Mátrai, First Vice President of the Hungarian Parliament.
