BTO - Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has issued Document No. 3751/UBND - TKCT on the implementation of the project to rearrange provincial administrative units. The content of the document requires the provincial authorities to coordinate with Binh Thuan and Dak Nong provinces to develop a project to rearrange administrative units.
Accordingly, implementing Resolution No. 60 of the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, the conclusions of the Politburo and the Secretariat on implementing research and proposing to continue to reorganize the apparatus of the political system; the conclusions of the Central Committee on reorganizing administrative units at all levels and building a 2-level local government organization model...
The Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned the provincial departments, branches and sectors to preside over and promptly coordinate with the departments, branches and sectors of Binh Thuan and Dak Nong provinces (according to each department, branch and sector), to organize the development of the Project to merge each department, branch and sector of the 3 provinces; ensure progress according to the Provincial Plan; complete the Project, send it to the Department of Home Affairs for appraisal and synthesis before April 22, 2025.
Assign the Department of Home Affairs to guide and urge departments, branches and sectors to develop the Project as required; synthesize the content into the Project on rearranging provincial administrative units (the General Project of the province) to ensure progress and consistency with the General Plan of the province.
Previously, on April 12, General Secretary To Lam issued Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW of the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee. The Resolution clearly stated that the Central Committee highly agreed on policies on organizing local governments at two levels, including provincial level (provinces, centrally-run cities) and communal level (communes, wards, and special zones under provinces and cities).
The Central Government also agreed that the number of provincial-level administrative units after the merger would be 34 provinces and cities (28 provinces and 6 centrally-run cities) with names and administrative-political centers determined according to the principles stated in the Submissions and Projects. According to Resolution No. 60, Binh Thuan province will merge with Dak Nong province and Lam Dong province, expected to take the name Lam Dong province, with the political-administrative center located in Lam Dong province.
