The activity was organized by the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association in coordination with the Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the Football Federation of Thailand (FAT) and the People's Public Security Sports Association, within the program of activities of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association (term 2022 - 2027) and with the efforts of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association.

The program aims to strengthen the friendly and traditional relations between Vietnam and Thailand, towards celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand (1976 - 2026).
Sharing at the press conference before the match, coach Okiyama Masahiko of Vietnam U17 women's team said: "The match between Vietnam U17 women's team and Thailand U17 women's team is also an opportunity to strengthen the football relationship between Thailand and Vietnam."
Coach Okiyama Masahiko was appointed by the Vietnam Football Federation as the coach of the Vietnam U17 women's team in March. This is considered the first match of the Japanese coach in his new role.
Coach Okiyama Masahiko of Vietnam U17 women's team said that the match between Vietnam U17 women's team and Thailand U17 women's team is also an opportunity to strengthen the football relationship between Thailand and Vietnam.
"Although they have not been with the team for long enough, through training, I initially assess that the players have basic techniques, are serious about their performance, and have their own strengths. The match with Thailand U17 women's team will be an important knowledge base for the young players of the Vietnam U17 team. Based on the data of this match, the team will analyze and come up with a training plan to prepare for the upcoming Asian U17 women's qualifying round. Regarding the match with Thailand U17 women's team, the team aims to win" - Coach Okiyama Masahiko said.
For his part, Head Coach of the Thai U17 Women's Team Thidarat Wiwasukhu shared: “The Thai U17 Women's Team does not have much experience. This is an opportunity for us and the Vietnamese side to develop, opening up friendly matches or international tournaments in the future. In the past time, the team has been continuously operating according to the schedule, including matches taking place in Thailand. For me, the match with the Vietnamese U17 Women's Team will be a stronger link between the sports of the two countries. We will definitely play fair-play, nobly with the spirit of good sportsmanship against Vietnam.”

To prepare for the friendly match, from March 28, the Vietnam U17 women's team officially gathered with 24 players, under the guidance of Japanese head coach Okiyama Masahiko at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. As for the Thailand U17 women's team, the coaching staff and players of the visiting team arrived in Hanoi from April 1 to prepare for the match. After the match, the two teams will continue to participate in cultural exchange activities between the Thai and Vietnamese delegations.
The friendly football match between the Vietnam U17 women's team and the Thailand U17 women's team was allowed by the Asian Football Confederation to be held according to the standards of an international football match, promising to bring fans a match of high professional quality.
