On the evening of October 24, Hanoi FC lost 1-2 to host Wuhan Three Towns in the third match of Group J of the AFC Champions League 2023/24. In this match, the Vietnamese representative had to play with one less player early on when striker Tague received a red card in the third minute.
However, Van Quyet and his teammates still tried until the last seconds and if they were lucky, they could have left with a point.
Coach Le Duc Tuan answered the press conference after the match: "My players tried hard and followed the tactics very well. They showed a great fighting spirit, trying until the last minute."
Mr. Le Duc Tuan was recently appointed as the interim coach of Hanoi FC after the team fired coach Bandovic. Previously, under the leadership of the Montenegrin coach, the Vietnamese representative lost both of their first two matches against Pohang Steelers (2-4) and Urawa Red Diamonds (0-6).
Coach Le Duc Tuan continued: "We scored a goal when we were one man down, which is a testament to the players' spirit and will to compete.
Before the match, I said that we came here to play beautiful football, to show the style of Hanoi Club and we did that."
Coach Le Duc Tuan said that Hanoi FC's spirit in this match is completely different from the previous two matches and the players need to maintain that when returning to V-League.
The Capital team aims to win the V-League championship after losing the title to the Hanoi Police Club last season. Mr. Tuan said: "There are many difficulties and challenges ahead, but we will try our best to conquer the glory of the upcoming V-League."
After 3 matches in the AFC Champions League group stage, Hanoi FC is currently at the bottom of Group J with no points and is almost eliminated. However, coach Le Duc Tuan affirmed that the team will still play their best in the remaining matches to demonstrate the Vietnamese spirit in the continental arena.
