In the VBA finals last year, Hanoi Buffaloes lost 0-3 to Saigon Heat. Therefore, they are eager to change the color of the medal in VBA 2023 by focusing on investing heavily in their team. Notably, they recruited former "scoring king" Anthony January.
"Scoring machine" Anthony January returns to VBA in Hanoi Buffaloes jersey
Four years ago, in the 2019 VBA group stage, the 1993-born player led in the ability to put the ball into the basket when scoring an average of 27.3 points/game. In addition, with a height of 2.05 m, weighing 100 kg, the American foreign player is also a nightmare in the area near the basket when he ranked first in the index of being fouled with an average of 6.3 times/game.

Not only did they bring in one of the best scorers in VBA history, the Hanoi Buffaloes also built many quality satellites around this player. They are foreign player Russell Smith (1.98 m tall), domestic player Pham Duc Kien (1.98 m tall) and rookie Dinh Toan Quoc (1.95 m tall). If these "four" play together, the team nicknamed "Capital Buffaloes" will have 4 "giants" with a height of over 2 m on the field. Besides the highlights from the new players, the team also has a new coach Erik Rashad - an expert from the US with over 20 years of experience.

Dinh Thanh Tam, captain of the Vietnam basketball team at the recent 32nd SEA Games, will also continue to be with the Hanoi Buffaloes. The combination of the VBA's all-time leading scorer Anthony January and the experienced core, who have been with the team for many years, including Nguyen Tien Duong, Dinh Tien Cong, Nguyen Duong Quang Anh... promises to help the current runner-up continue to be a strong candidate for the championship title for the 8th season of the VBA.
