The Hanoi City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said it will organize a competition for architectural designs for the Thuong Cat Bridge project connecting Bac Tu Liem district with Dong Anh district across the Red River.
Accordingly, the subjects participating in the architectural design competition for the Thuong Cat Bridge project are individuals and design consulting organizations across the country, with sufficient professional capacity, practicing according to current legal regulations and voluntarily participating.
Contestants submit their registration and contest documents directly to the Hanoi City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board at 1 Quang Trung (Ha Dong, Hanoi).
The deadline for submitting architectural design competition applications (competition phase) is within 45 days from the date the competition organizer issues the notice of individuals and organizations that pass the preliminary round to participate in the competition phase.
The architectural design of Tran Hung Dao Bridge won the first prize in 2022 with the name: "Hanoi without limits".
According to the Hanoi City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the investment in the construction of Thuong Cat Bridge helps ensure synchronization and smoothness in the investment of the entire Ring Road 3.5; contributing to connecting Thang Long Avenue and Bac Tu Liem District with Dong Anh District and localities in the area north of the Red River.
On the other hand, when Thuong Cat Bridge is built, it will also help reduce traffic load on Highway 70 and Ring Road 3, and form important infrastructure routes in the capital, promoting socio-economic development.
The total length of Thuong Cat Bridge and the roads at both ends is 5.22km; of which the total length of the bridge is 4,060m, 8 lanes; the roads at both ends of the bridge are 50-60m wide. The total investment is about 8,300 billion VND from the city budget.
In particular, the project is expected to complete the approval of the architectural plan in December 2023; approve the project before June 2024; start the project in the first quarter of 2025 and complete the project in 2027.
Previously, in 2022, Hanoi city also held an architectural design competition for Tran Hung Dao bridge.
According to the city's master plan, Hanoi will have 10 more bridges across the Red River, including: Hong Ha, Me So (ring road 4), Thang Long Moi (ring road 3), Tu Lien, Vinh Tuy (phase 2), Thuong Cat, Ngoc Hoi (ring road 3.5), Tran Hung Dao bridge/tunnel, Phu Xuyen bridge, Van Phuc (North-South axis road connecting to Vinh Phuc province). Having 10 more bridges is considered a "trump card" for the capital to promote regional connectivity, develop the economy, and create maximum convenience for people to travel to central districts as well as to neighboring provinces .
