According to Russian news agency RIA , on August 20, Google filed a lawsuit in several courts in the UK and the US, including the Northern California Court in California against two Russian TV channels, Tsargrad TV, ANO TV-Novosti (owner of RT TV) and the Orthodox TV organization, after these three TV channels sued Google.

After Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, YouTube (a subsidiary of Google) blocked a number of Russian TV channels.

Recently, the Moscow Arbitration Court (Russia) declared that Google's unilateral termination of contracts with Russian TV channels was a breach of contract and an illegal act.

The Moscow court also ordered YouTube to unblock Russian channels, restore access to Russian users, and forced Google to pay a fine of 100,000 rubles (nearly $1,200) per day from the time the court issued the decision.

To date, the fine imposed by the Moscow court on Google has reached 32.7 billion rubles (more than 356.4 million USD). However, Google has not agreed to pay the fine to Moscow.

According to Vedomosti newspaper, the access speed of YouTube channels in Russia has shown signs of slowing down since July and officially stopped broadcasting high-quality videos for users in Russia since August 3. By August 8, a series of users in Russia reported that they could not access the YouTube platform.

Moscow officials claim that Russians cannot access YouTube because of restrictions placed on its operations by Google, YouTube's parent company.
